Hi I'm Alexandra

I'm a musician, I'm an Aunt, I'm a sister and a daughter, I'm a friend, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I guess you can say that my life really revolves around music. I have played piano for almost as long as I can remember, and all throughout middle school and high school I learned percussion and was in the bands and orchestras. Now I play percussion at Brigham Young University, and although I don't know exactly what career I want to build towards, I know that it needs to be music related. Have you ever had something in your life that you know you wouldn't be able to live without? Something that you live for each day and love more than anything else in the world? For me, I treasure two things dearly. They are music and the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

One thing I love about my parents and family is that they raised me and taught me the things they believed about God and Jesus Christ, and took me to church to learn. However, when it came time for me to leave home, they let me choose what I wanted to do with my life. I choose to attend a church university, but for a while I lost my faith a little bit. I didn't want to do things like study the scriptures, pray, and other simple things that help us become strong. I went to church each week, but I didn't really learn a lot or enjoy it too much. Then one weekend, in the Fall of 2014, I attended a church Women's Meeting with my roommates. We went to our church and watched a broadcast of the leaders of our church speaking to women around the world. I felt so loved and so strong and beautiful, I knew that I needed to keep trying to serve God and follow Jesus Christ's example. Ever since, there have been hard times where I have struggled with my testimony and keeping God's commandments- but I know that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me more than I could ever imagine! I know that I am divine because my Father in Heaven is divine! I am so grateful for the joy and comfort that the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me!

How I live my faith

I grew up Mormon with parents who were loving enough to take me to church each week and help me be involved in church activities. When I went to college, I chose Brigham Young University because of its association with my church. It has helped me to be able to study academically alongside those who believe in God and live lives involved with Christianity and other religions. It's been neat to start a college class with prayer, or be able to openly discuss Christian principles in class. It's made me a stronger believer in Jesus Christ. Starting in just a few days, I will be serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which means I will take 18 months out of my usual life and dedicate everything I do to serving others and bringing them to know of and believe in Jesus Christ. I am excited to serve the people in Irvine, California, where I will be for the next year and a half!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith is an important figure in our church because he restored the gospel that Christ built during His ministry. We see Joseph Smith as the first modern-day prophet, but we do not worship him. We worship Jesus Christ, and God, our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
