Hi I'm Shereen
Hi my name is Shereen and I come from a large family with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. I loved growing up in a big family because it was never lonely! I have been married to a wonderful man for 30 years we have 4 great children. Our oldest is our one and only daughter, who has blessed us with our 4 beautiful grandchildren. We have a son who lives in San Francisco with his wife. Our next son is going to BYU and our youngest son still lives at home. I have worked in the Optical field while raising our children but chose to not work these last couple years and enjoy the time with our youngest son. I love the outdoors skiing, biking, hiking, and golf, (when my husband has the patience to take me.) We live in Arizona and love the beautiful winters here. I love that there is a strong mormon influence in the area we live in.
Why I am a Mormon
I come from a long line of faithful mormons. I have always had a belief in the truthfulness of the gospel. Without the church I don't know that we would have been able to raise our children to become the wonderful people they are today. The gospel foundation that was set for me at a very young age has truly made me who I am today. I have had tough times in my life as most people do but the knowledge that my Father in Heaven loves me and watches over me has been a huge blessing for me. My family is the most important thing in the world to me and I am so grateful that I can be with them forever. I am grateful for my savior Jesus Christ and all that he did for us. I try to follow his example and always look for the positive in every person I meet.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I am a mother of two return missionaries. I have witnessed first hand that when a person gives two years of their lives to bring others into the church it blesses them and their family. It was never a question of if our boys would go on a mission they both had the desire and didn't need any convincing to go. The change that comes over them can happen in no other way. They leave as boys and come back as men. I can't say it was easy as a mother to send your son away for two long years but the sacrifice is the greatest blessing.
How I live my faith
I love to serve in the church and always accept what ever calling that is given to me. I am currently teaching the 6 year olds and I love the enthusiasm they have even though there is 12 kids in my class and sometimes hard to keep there attention. I truly believe that you come to love those you serve and I love all these children! I feel like the program for the women in our church is such an inspired program. My calling as a visiting teacher even though it is hard to find time to do, is a great way to stay in touch with other women. You really come to love and appreciate the wonderful women that you get to know through this program.
