Hi I'm Jessica

I am in college studying Math Education and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life! I have always loved sports, music, and learning. I love playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. I enjoy playing the piano, the flute, and I enjoy singing. I love to read, and have always loved being in school learning about new things. I grew up in a small town in Idaho with my mom, dad, and three younger sisters. Because of where I grew up, I have gained an appreciation for the beauty of this earth that we live on. I love watching the stars, sunsets, and gorgeous vistas from the hills and mountains in my valley. I am currently attending college where I am studying to become a math teacher. I have loved every step of getting my education and have loved studying not only math, but all of the other subjects I have had to take for my generals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the testimony that I have gained for myself of its truthfulness. There is a feeling that comes by being a member of this church that is unlike any else. I know this feeling comes because of the Holy Ghost which is sent from the Father to testify of the divinity of the Savior and the validity of his church. I first gained a strong testimony of this church when I was in my early teen years. This was a really hard time for me in my life. I was timid and unsure of myself. I did not have many friends and found myself feeling very lonely often. At night after a hard day of school I would often cry myself to sleep. It was only through heartfelt prayer to my Heavenly Father that was able to calm and comfort by soul. The feelings that I received after and during my prayers convinced me that God lives, and that he was listening to my prayers. I gained a knowledge that my Heavenly Father and my Savior love me. Ever since that time that knowledge has grown more sure. My Heavenly Father has answered my prayer in showing my how to be happy. I have learned that this church is his fully restored gospel on the earth. I find that I am most happiest when I live by the standards and principles that Jesus Christ teaches in this his church. I have found that true joy and confidence comes from being obedient to His commandments. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the greatest blessing that I have in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the way my Savior would want me to live my life. I begin each morning with prayer and a study of his word in the scriptures. Though I do make mistakes, I try my best to love those around me and to serve them with a love that Christ would have for them. This service includes teaching others in my church in their homes and in church meetings on Sunday. I have gained a love for my fellow members and I have learned not to judge people on what first meets the eye. I choose my actions based on what I would feel comfortable doing in the presence of Christ. I strive to never do anything that I would be ashamed of doing if the Savior walked into the room. I strive to be honest, chaste, and clean in all that I do. One of the themes the church has for its young women, which I try to live by, states that we will strive to be "witnesses of God in all times, in all things, in all places, as we strive to live the young women values, which are: faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue. As we strive to live and act upon these principles, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family..."
