Hi I'm Alex Henderson

I am a beach going, ice cream loving university student, but I am currently a missionary in the Japan Nagoya Mission.

About Me

I grew up in Irvine California. I absolutely love the beach, and spent a good majority of my summers there. I am studying neuroscience and psychology at Brigham Young University. I want to specialize in therapy for young children with autism, and make a difference in the realm of neuropsychology. But, I decided to put all of those dreams on pause for a little bit and serve a mission. I was called to serve in the Japan, Nagoya mission. I can honestly say that deciding to leave on a mission was the best descion I ever made.

Why I am a Mormon

I am blessed to have parents who faithfully abide by the teachings of the gospel. But as I have grown older, I have realized that I need to make a choice of my own to follow the gospel. Why am I a Mormon? I am a Mormon because the gospel brings unfathomable amounts of blessings into my life. It brings me happiness into each and every day of my life. It brings understanding to me about the plan our Heavenly Father has set out for us. It gives me direction in my life, and it tells me where I am going and where I came from. It helps me in times of need and in times of trials. It brings comfort and peace when I know that if I ever am stuck, no matter what the circumstances, I can turn to my Heavenly Father for help. It also brings the knowledge that if I make a mistake, I can always repent because of the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, and because of his atoning sacrifice. Most of all, I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and in my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying each and everyday to be an "example of the believers." I try everyday to be loving and kind, because I want others to feel the love I feel from my Savior Jesus Christ. I still am an imperfect person, but I know that Heavenly Father has blessed my life, and He wants to bless all of His children. I also live my faith by serving those around me. As a church, we reach out to others, and participate in many service activities together. It is through these service activities that I can more fully understand the love our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father has for each of His children. Another way I will live my faith is leaving my home, family, and all other personal affairs behind to serve the people of Nagoya, Japan. I accepted the call to serve, and in doing so, I am devoting eighteen months of my life to serving the people of Japan and helping them more fully understand our Savior's love.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Alex Henderson
We believe that God is our loving Heavenly Father. He has a body just like ours, with flesh and blood. God loves each and every one of His children. He knows us individually, and He knows our personal struggles and weaknesses. He rejoices with us, and He is with us when we are suffering. Most of all, God desires for each and every one of His children to be happy. Show more Show less
