Hi I'm Rebecca

I grew up in Seattle. I love to read and got a bachelor's degree in political science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I majored in political science in college. I spent a semester abroad in Jerusalem, touring Israel, and took a brief trip to Turkey and Jordan. I am interested in international relations, particularly international development and security studies. I love to read and I love music, particularly singing and playing my violin. I love gymnastics and my favorite apparatus is the uneven bars. I did debate in high school and I want to make the world a better place. I believe in girl power and think that empowering women is one of the best ways to help solve the world's problems. I served an LDS mission in Italy and married my best friend from high school. I now have a darling baby girl who makes life even more entertaining.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I learned from a very young age to study things out in my own mind and find out what I believed. I have read the Book of Mormon and know that it is the word of God, and I daily feel peace and joy as I pray to my Father in Heaven and try and follow His will for me. I have strengthened my personal relationship with Him and with Jesus Christ through reading the scriptures and finding answers to my questions. I know that the greatest happiness any of us can receive is through obedience to God's commandments and I have felt Him in my life. He always will have His arms open for us. As I follow the counsel given by President Thomas S. Monson I feel the warmth and love of God; I have been blessed to receive specific answers to my own personal questions through the leadership of living apostles and prophets. Heavenly Father is real, and I come closest to Him when I abide by the principles that I have been taught. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve in the nursery for children ages 18 months to roughly 3 years in our local congregation (ward). I love getting to play with them and watch how quickly they learn and grow. I also served a mission in northern Italy for 18 months, played the piano for the ward choir, and try and help out in whatever way I can in the local community. I currently teach piano and tend children for others in our area.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Bible contains the word of God given to his children throughout the ages. It talks about the creation and His commandments and His relationship with all of us here on earth. The New Testament teaches about Christ's life here on earth and the establishment of His church. Studying the Old and New Testament help us learn what past prophets have taught about God and what He would have us do. It is a very special and sacred book that teaches important truths about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and our relationship to them. Show more Show less
