Hi I'm Thane

I'm a husband and a father. I'm a financial advisor. I'm a volunteer coach. I enjoy sports. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Thane. I've been a member of the church all my life, but I really became converted when I served a mission for the church in Chicago, Illinois. I'm happily married and have 4 children. They are great kids, each with their own unique personality. By profession, I am a financial advisor, and I work mostly with retirees. I love my job because I love helping people. I truly believe that helping and serving others brings us the most joy in life.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I was born into a Mormon family and a community where most everyone was a Mormon, I've sometimes wondered if I was a Mormon by default and if I really had a choice. The truth is, I have a choice every day. There are plenty of people who are technically "Mormon" but don't live their religion. I make the choice every day to live it... because I've come to know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I feel good when I am keeping the commandments. I know our Heavenly Father has a plan for us, and I want to follow the plan. I know it will bring me true happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. My wife and I pray together every morning before I go to work. I serve others all day long in my job. It gives me opportunities to practice being friendly, kind, helpful, and honest. After work I almost always go to a school or sporting event of one of my kids. I love supporting them and guiding them as they learn to become good people. From the time they were little I've always told them, "You're a great kid; you're going to be a great adult." I believe we help others by showing our confidence and faith in them. We do many things as a family -- vacations, sporting events, family meals, and attending each others' events. Although it doesn't always happen, we try to read scriptures as a family every night. We always have family prayer before going to sleep.
