Hi I'm Matt Gardner.

I live in Idaho, I'm a music major and psychology minor, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I play the violin and love to sing. I also play soccer. I enjoy many sports and music. I just got back from a mission for the church to Guatemala for 2 years. I am currently going to BYU-Idaho, as a music major in violin.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up being a Mormon. My parents also grew up as members. As I have grown up with the Mormon Doctrine, I have found and known it to be true. After I read the Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time, I prayed to know if it was true. The Holy Ghost has manifested its truth to me. I felt an amazing power of warmth in my heart and a peaceful feeling in my mind. I know that Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane. He suffered for all of our sins, trials, heart-aches, and problems. If we pray to The Father through Christ's name, we can use this wonderful gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It is the most important gift in the Universe. Through it and the process of repentance, we can change our nature, including overcoming bad habits and addictions. Joseph Smith was a boy of fourteen when he prayed to our Heavenly Father to know which church he should join. I know that Heavenly Father and Christ both came to Joseph and told him that he should not join any of them. Joseph then went on through the roughest of trials and tribulations to build The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, for everyone, including for us today. He allowed for us to have the Holy Ghost with us today, if we keep the commandments of God. I know that we have a prophet today, who receives revelation from God, for everyone on earth today. I know that as I do what is right, the Holy Ghost will be with me, and will help me in the different aspects of my life. I have felt this in my life. I know that God cares about each of us individually, and that if we follow what He says, through His prophets, we will be blessed, and we will live with Him again.

How I live my faith

The Gospel is the greatest gift I have. But reading and hearing about it only gives you a little bit of a good feeling. But as you live it, Christ's love forms a huge part of your life. I try to have faith by helping others and always having a good attitude. I repent by getting better everyday and leaving the past behind me (which is only possible through Christ's suffering and resurrection). I renew my covenant of baptism every Sunday as I take the Sacrament (bread and water), and I feel more and more of the influence of the Holy Ghost as time goes on. God helps me so much with my goals and dreams, and I know He has and will do so now, as I start college and seek my future.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Matt Gardner.
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is not a continuation of the Bible. It contains the writings of ancient prophets who lived on the American continent. The first prophet mentioned in the Book of Mormon was a prophet named Lehi, who lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. He was commanded by God to take his family and his friend's family to America. The golden plates that the Book of Mormon were originally written on were passed down prophet to prophet. Eventually it got down to the prophet Mormon, who the book is named after. His son, Moroni, buried the plates in a hill, in modern New York, where Joseph Smith found them through revelation. He translated them by the power of God. The Book of Mormon has many great stories in it. The most important of them is when Jesus Christ comes to America after He was resurrected. He taught His gospel to His people there and organized His Church there. Show more Show less
