Hi I'm Stuart
I am an husband, dad and orthopaedic surgeon, and I'm a Mormon, but I haven't always been.
We recently moved to Arizona where I work as the Medical Director of Urgent Orthopaedics for a large group practice with offices in Flagstaff and Prescott Valley. I was raised near to where we now live in Durango, Colorado. I enjoy the outdoors, biking, jogging, and hanging out with my family.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was fourteen I had a religious experience at a weekend retreat that led me to question whether or not I believed in God. Four and half years later a friend gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited me to Church. The minute I entered the Chapel I felt the Spirit witness to me of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have since served a mission, been married in the Mesa Arizona Temple and have six wonderful children. I couldn't be happier that I tried the experiment to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it were true. IT IS! Read it and learn for yourself.
How I live my faith
My volunteer work for the Church now involves working closely with the full-time missionaries in our Ward. This work has renewed importance for me as our family has a daughter serving as a Spanish-speaking missionary in California and a son Portuguese-speaking in Brazil. Each week I try to simply let everyone I know sense that they are important. Many people are anxious when they come see me to discuss surgery and I enjoy sharing with them how important they and their health are to me. In a way I feel that I am acting like the Savior as a healer.
