Hi I'm Marilyn

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Bountiful, Utah to wonderful parents. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I know he lives.

About Me

I am the mother of three good and handsome sons. All my children were adopted at birth. The gratitude I have for their birthparents and the Lord has no bounds. As my children grew older I went back to teaching elementary children, which I love to do. My husband is a teacher and a chaplain in the army reserve. We have had many rich experiences because of this. My oldest son is an active duty soldier. He will be leaving to go overseas for the fourth time soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I was a young teenager my Sunday School teacher bore a powerful testimony of the restoration of the fullness gospel in our day. Each week he challenged us to humbly pray to gain our own witness. At night, when all my family was sleeping, I would kneel by the sofa in our living room and pray. As I prayed I felt that I was loved by a Heavenly Father who knew me. This experience has been an anchor to my soul all my life. I know that miracles have not ceased in our day. As joys and challenges, successes and heartbreaks have come into my life I have learned so much about being grateful, believing, and being full of hope through our Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are anchors in my life. I marvel at how they answer my questions and concerns in such a personal way. My greatest wish is to be able to have everyone I know "Come and See" for themselves these books, this church, the priesthood, the atonement of Jesus Christ. These things are awesome, real, true! I testify. "Come and See" for yourself.

How I live my faith

I receive great joy and satisfaction serving the young people in my neighborhood and community. I try to be the kind of person that brings peace and love to those around me. For sure the children and youth fill my soul with happiness and smiles. Every time I plan something with the youth in mind I marvel that the Lord gives me so much inspiration. He compensates for my weaknesses and insecurities. It testifies to me that he is very mindful of them.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Marilyn
I recently watched something on TV that said that many christians have not read the Bible even though they own one. This was very surprising to me. We are so blessed in our day to have this powerful book prophesing of the coming of the Savior and witnessing his life and teachings in ancient Israel. Reading the Bible helps me feel so close to the Lord and marvel at his incomprehensible power and love. I think without it I could easily get confused and forget that he lives and has a plan for us. When I read the Bible and Book of Mormon I remember that this is a big plan and that God has always loved his children in all ages and times. The Book of Mormon is an anchor to my soul. It answers so many questions I have about everything that is a concern to me. I am able to write down a thoughtful question and get answers as I study the scriptures. I mostly gain perspective, comfort, direction, and hope. Sometimes I see the need for a course correction. Always I feel my Saviors love. Show more Show less
