Hi I'm Devin Pfister

I'm an Athlete. I'm a Student. I'm a Missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an athlete. I love sports. My favorites would have to be football (favorite team The Eagles), skiing, soccer (Real Salt Lake) and basketball. I also love doing outdoors stuff like hiking, biking, backpacking, scuba diving and playing ultimate frisbee with my buddies. I'm a student. I'm currently a junior in college majoring in biology. My plans are to graduate and go on to medical school. My hopes are to one day become a surgeon of some sorts and travel the world helping out in underprivileged countries. I'm a missionary. I recently returned home from a two year mission in the country of Panama. I loved every second of it and miss it everyday. But i'm still a missionary because there are always opportunities for everyone everywhere to help someone out, spread a little love and teach someone about the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life, but I continue to stay strong in the church because of the testimony I've gotten throughout the years about how I know that Christ is our Savior. I've seen the way the church blesses people's lives personally in my family. I know that through Jesus Christ, his Atonement and The Plan of Salvation we will be with our families forever in God's presence. This has been a great comfort in my life when close family members have passed on.

How I live my faith

I am currently living my faith by serving a two year mission in Panama. Before I left I would regularly attend church every sunday and I would hometeach with my father to three families and I would attend mutual which is for the youth once a week to go do service, learn more about the church and just help out where needed.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Devin Pfister
For one of my classes in college i was given the assignment to write an essay on something that is ruining America and how to stop it. I choose pornography as my topic because i feel that it is so dangerous yet most people don't know it. Here are some excerpts from my paper. Educating ourselves and our children is the key. When a child is educated about sex, the human body and the harmful effects of pornography in a way that doesn't confuse or overload the child, he or she will no longer have that curiosity or need to go looking for answers elsewhere. There are too many children turning to pornography to learn about sex because they are not being adequately taught about sex or the dangers of pornography by their parents. New York Times writer Debby Herbenick affirms “If parents and schools don’t teach teenagers about sex, intimacy and healthy relationships, then pornography will remain their primary source of sex information.” Parents need to educate their children about sex and teach them the truth about the world of pornography and the detrimental effects it causes. The pornography industry is growing at an alarming rate and educating adolescences is the only way to keep them away from the danger of pornography. Show more Show less
