Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Washington state. I am happily married and the father of five awesome children. I am a dentist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest most of my life and love the beautiful scenery here. My wife and I have five children and our lives are busy as we try to raise them to be good and decent people. They are active in many things especially in sports. I have had the privilege of coaching all of them in soccer and basketball. We spend a lot of time at the gym or field watching a lot of games. It's awesome. I am a general dentist by profession and love helping people that are in pain or that don't like their smile and who want to be healthy. My wife and I enjoy family vacations, spending time with extended family, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church as both my parents and grandparents were members of the church. Having been raised as a Mormon I guess that I always felt that the gospel of Jesus Christ was true as restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I was called to serve a mission to Brazil and while I was preparing to teach the gospel in this great country, I became more concerned that I needed to have my own witness that the church was true and that what I was going to teach was really from God. I studied and pondered the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if it was true. I figured that if I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon that this would serve as a foundation for my testimony the church and the restored gospel in general. I received an answer to my prayer through the Holy Spirit that testified that it was true and that I had always known it. This witness while seemingly small in comparison to some of the more miraculous answers to prayer throughout history was what I needed. I knew that it was all true. Since then I have been able to go to the temple and be sealed to my dear wife for eternity and we are raising our children in the gospel as we both were. I know that God is our Heavenly Father and that His son Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and has atoned for our sins and sadness and disappointments and all that is difficult that we face. I am grateful to Him. I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restoration and that he translated the Book of Mormon which is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that the priesthood has been restored and that it is the power of God given to man to bless the lives of His children. I know that we have prophets and apostles that lead us today. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

How I live my faith

I have tried to live the gospel and be a good example to others around me. I go to church each Sunday and partake of the sacrament and enjoy my association with other members of the church. I am presently serving as a counselor in our Stake presidency which leads eight wards or congregations in our area. This has given me the opportunity to get to know many of the church members in our region. I also have several families that my son and I visit each month as hometeachers. One of my favorite things to do is to go to the temple with my wife and/or my children. There is a great feeling of peace and happiness in this holy place. The gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life so much. While we are not perfect at it, we try to center our lives around the Savior and this has helped direct me and my family in how we should live and the decisions that we make.
