Hi I'm Laura

I was born in Arizona, raised in Utah, and live in Texas. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same everywhere.

About Me

I am a happily married mother of 2 and a step-mother of 4. I have worked my entire adult life, until recently, as a cosmotologist for 8 years and an accountant for 10 years. My hobbies and interests have changed thoughout the different stages of my life. As a young adult, in my 20's, I spent most nights and weekends at the lake water-skiing. As I approached 30, I changed to horseback riding, barrell racing, and a little team roping. During my 30's, divorce plagued my home and I became a single mother which resulted in having to give up the expensive hobbies and focus more on family. I have always enjoyed all outdoor sports mountain biking, snow skiing, camping, fishing, golfing, hiking, and the list goes on. I have never considered myself musically talented but I enjoy a little bit of piano playing and am teaching myself violin. I also enjoy drawing, painting, and using charcoals and pastels. Genealogy has become a recent obsession. Each individual I find is like opening a box of chocolates. You never know what your gonna get. No two people are alike or have the same story.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that were already members of this church, and was taught gospel principles my entire life. Even though I was born into the church, I had to receive my own testimony of whether this was Jesus Christ's church on earth today. In my studies of the history of Chrisianity one thing is very obvious, there was an apostacy. Because of this great apostacy, in order for Jesus Christ's church to be on earth today, it had to be restored to the earth. My conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints came in my young adult life as the trials of life began hitting me and I needed help. I was taught young to search for answers in the scriptures, so that's where I turned. I read the Book of Mormon and received a confirmation through the Holy Ghost that the words contained within were true. Thoughout my life I have gained a testimony of not only the scriptures but other gospel principles line upon line. They did not come all at once. I have gained testimonies of the law of tithing, the word of wisdom, fasting, prayer, the atonement, the restoration, the saving ordinances of temples, the priesthood, baptism, the sacrament and others by living and practicing them first. Only after living these principles and enjoying the blessings did my testimony of them come. I cannot deny the things the Holy Ghost has confirmed to me as truth. I am a mormon because of my testimony and belief that Jesus Christ did restore his church to the earth.

How I live my faith

I am very active in my ward and enjoy participating in activites. I currently teach the 5 yr olds every Sunday. I am also the Girl's Camp director for my ward. Along with my husband, we also help organize annual Youth Conference's for ages 14 - 18. This keeps me very busy, in addition to having a family. Serving and helping others helps me forget my own problems and worries. Jesus Christ set the best example by devoting his life to the service of others. As a Christian, and a Mormon, I try to follow his example by losing myself in the service of others.
