Hi I'm Miriah Peterson

I am a Physics Major at BYU. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Miriah Peterson. I am a student Brigham Young University, and I am studying physics. When I am not studying or doing home work, I am a the gym lifting weights and relieving my stress. I work everyday to be an aunt and a good example for those who are younger than me. I love my church and I love to be a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life, but as a child in Utah it was kind of just what everyone did. A year after I moved to Oklahoma I found myself alone one morning. My mother had been gone for two weeks training with my one of sisters to run a Papa Murphy's franchise, my youngest sister was at a friend's house, and my dad was at work. I had just gotten contacts. After and hour of countless attempts, I could not get either of them into my eyes. A flod of emotions overcame me and I broke down in the bathroom. I felt alone and inadequate. If I couldn't even get a stupid contact into my eye how could I do anything. As I spiraled down I cried out to my Heavenly Father. I asked him to help me. I asked to comfort my emotions so that I could get my contact in and go through my day. After that I was immediately comforted and my contacts went right in. That's not all. Within three hours my sister, who was training with my mom, had the tips of her finger caught in a cheese grater, and they were on their way home. When I got up the next morning and saw suitcases by the door and my mom home I knew my Heavenly Father was out there. He brought my mother home and comforted me at a time when I had no one else. That day in the bathroom I gained a testimony of my Heavenly Father and the power of prayer. That is why I am a Mormon. I have prayed about it many times and every time I receive a witness of the truth of this church just as strong as the comfort I helt that day in the bathroom.

How I live my faith

As the primary song says, "I'm trying to be like Jesus, I'm following in his ways. I'm trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say." In order to return to the presence of my Heavenly Father, I must live my life in a way that I can love an serve others. If I can live in that way I become more like Christ and have the desire to repent and return to him. That is how I live my faith, by striving everyday to do what I must to serve My Heavenly Father and others.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Miriah Peterson
The purpose of Missionary proselyting is to invite others to come unto Christ. In order for that to happen, the words of the Lord must be carried to people. By going out and knocking on doors and handing out copies of the Book of Mormon, missionaries are making the pathway known. As they are shown the way they do come unto Christ. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Miriah Peterson
The account in 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon does testify that Jesus Christ did appear in the Americas. He taught the people and organized his church around the new law. Show more Show less
