Hi I'm Calvin

I call Utah home. I'm serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am a missionary that was captain of the debate team in high school, a student at a local university and a retail associate. While in high school, I feel like my experiences with debate have dramatically shaped my desires and dreams about where I want to go with my life--and when I graduated I started on that path by perusing at bachelor degree in Political Science. After I return home I plan on furthering my studies and I am hoping to go to an ivy league school on the east coast--preferably Harvard.

Why I am a Mormon

My experience as a "Mormon" has been a roller coaster--which is interesting considering that I'm relatively new to this existence. I've always knew it was true--but I never really questioned the authenticity of what I knew. Before I left to dedicate two years of my life to my Heavenly Father, I decided that I should probably get things figured out and I began to "question with boldness" what I believed. Needless to say that what I knew to be true turned out to be...well, true. The difference was that I KNEW it this time. I know that Christ is my Savior. I know that the Atonement was for me just as much as anybody else that has lived, is living and will ever live--and for any person that needs proof that God loves His children need only look to the fact that He sent His first born, our older brother who was perfect and sinless, to suffer in the garden; to die on the cross as payment for our souls; and to rise again, triumphant over death to have his body and spirit reunited forever--never to be separated. God loves His children because He was willing to sacrifice His only perfect child for the rest of our souls. And to those that still need convincing, I make this point: if God, our loving Heavenly Father did not love us, not only would He have not sent His son, but He would have let us fall. He would have let the adversary have free reign over the earth and there would have been no hope for humanity. But He provided for us a way to return to Him: through repentance we can return to God. The mere fact that there is a process to return to our Heavenly Father shows us His love for us.

How I live my faith

Right now the way that I live my faith is through service to my church--by way of Missionary Service. I will spend the next 24 months in the Texas, Fort Worth Mission serving my Heavenly Father and my Church in absolute faith that the promises that have been made to me, the blessings that have been promised will come.
