Hi I'm Matthew

I need my own word to describe me and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I've had a good life, and it's not even over yet. I lived in Michagan for several years growing up, and moved to Oregon. I went to High School there and later to College in Utah. I'm studying Computer Engineering as I'm big into math and science. They're kind of my bread and butter so to speak. I like to joke around and laugh. I enjoy making things with my hands and playing with Legos. I enjoy riding my bike and enjoying the beauty of the world around me. I enjoy the beach and go there often. I enjoy taking many shovels and buckets and molding shapes and candles out of the sand. The water is much to cold in Oregon to do any swimming but I like to see who can run away from the water as the tide sweeps in with my brothers. I'm a constant doodler who can't stop. I love drawing little pictures of people and of things I see around me. In essence, I love to create. The feeling of exhilaration that comes from creating something that wasn't there before is a wonderful feeling. Life is a beatuful thing; if we want it to see it that way. I try to be awesome and nice to everyone I met. It's the little things like smiling and saying hello to not just the people you know, but the people you never met. It's holding doors open for people. It's trying to be a nice guy.

Why I am a Mormon

I makes too much sense not to be. Anytime I've really had a question about anything, I've found an answer through my religon. Questions like "Why am I here?", What do I need to do in life?", and "Where am I going?" have all been answered in detail and the answers fit together perfectly. Even simpler questions like, "Where should I go to school?" have been found through prayer and scripture study. I believe in the Book of Mormon as it a wonderful book. I have nothing but praise for it and a knowledge that it is true.

How I live my faith

I've really strived to live a good life. I try to help people out. Most of the time it's helping people move, but sometimes it's helping them rake leaves, cleaning a house, building a house-boat, renovating a home, or any other number of things. I strive to always be a better person, and my Faith helps me become that better person.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Authority is important to really do anything. If an ice cream truck drove right next to you and flashed its lights and sounded its siren, you would never pull over. Unless of course, you wanted ice cream. But if a police car drove right next to you and flashed its lights and sounded its siren, you would pull over no matter what. The ice cream truck, while still carrying delicious ice cream, does not have the authority to pull you over. The police car is authorized and has the authority to do so given to it by the chief of police. This is very similar to baptism. One must have the authority of God to act in his name. This authority is called the Priesthood. The Priesthood that was given to the Apostles by Jesus Christ through the laying on of hands was lost after the Apostles were killed. I am gratful that His Priesthood was restored to the Earth by Peter, James, and John to Joseph Smith in 1829. The Priesthood allows us as to act in God's name for the benifit of others.
