Hi I'm Dave

I live in the Pacific Northwest, I'm a Father of 5, I'm a Computer Guru, I get involved in the Community, and yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm mainly known as 'The Computer Guy' that has worked with computers and Networks for over 25 Years. Many of the last 25 years, I have worked with Youth Programs, and Scouting. I got my Ham Radio license and took CERT Training, because I want to be able to help others. I am the Father of 5 kids and 'Papa' to 2 Grandkids. I am a Husband for over 30 Years. I am interested in most everything. I like to move around every 5 or 6 years, because I like meeting new people, and seeing new sites. I grew up in California, Moved to Alaska, Lived in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and keep ending up in the Pacific Northwest.

Why I am a Mormon

Yes, I have been a member of the Church for most of my life. But when I was in High School, I decided for myself that the Church was True, and I wanted to serve a Mission for the Church. I was called to the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission. Those were the first "Best Two Years of my Life". I talked to people from all faiths. One of the best things that I like about the Church, is that there is very little that is considered " A Mystery ". Many people go through life asking the tough questions, like "Why am I here. What is the purpose of life. Where am I going after this life is over?" In many other faiths, usually the answers are "We are not meant to know these things, they are a Mystery." As a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ, there are very few Mysteries. The reason there were Prophets anciently, is that God wanted his people to know about him. God still loves us today as much as he did anciently. He continues to teach us and reveals his will through his Prophets. Most all of the big questions have answers. God would want us to know. I have learned that I am a descendant of the Lineage of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. I am entitled to the promises that God made with Man. I believe in the New Testament. I Believe in the Old Testament. I Believe that God spoke to more people than just a group of people that mainly lived in an area about the size of California. The "Book of Mormon" is the writings of the Prophets that lived in North and South America between 600BC to 400 AD. All three books testify that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. They teach us what we need to do to return to live with him again. All three of these Books, along with Modern Day Revelation, help answer all of the "Big Questions" That people like me with "Curiousity about EVERYTHING" get the answers that they are looking for. I know for myself that it is true.

How I live my faith

How do I live my Faith? A Wise man once said that "Character is what you do, when no one is looking". I strive to be a 'Good Person'. That means doing what is right, even when no one is looking. I enjoy Teaching. I have worked for many years with Youth including Scouts. I try and help others, and fill the role as a Mentor when I can. I am currently interested in getting trained in emergency response, because I want to be able to help my Family and Others in case "Bad Things" arise.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Dave
We Believe that the Bible is Holy Scripture. Both the Old and New Testament. I have had Opportunities to Teach both Youth and Adult Classes, and have gone in depth in teaching the Scriptures. Along with the Bible, we know that there were thousands of people that lived here in the Americas during the time the Bible was being lived. The Book of Mormon is a collection of many of the writings of the Prophets that lived here in the Americas. God is the God of the whole earth. He loved his people in THIS Continent as much as he did in the Old World. The writings of the Book of Mormon go hand in hand as what was being taught in the Bible, but being written by different people, that often enhance understanding of what God wants us to know. We Believe in Modern Revelation. That means that God still talks to us today, through Prophets. The 'Doctrine and Covenants' is another Book that we believe in to help us in the Latter-Days. In fact in our Sunday School classes, we rotate the teachings around, so for one year, we teach in depth the Old Testament, then the next year the New Testament, and the year after that the Book of Mormon, and the next year the "Doctrine and Covenants" - Together we belive strongly that they are the Word of God.
