Hi I'm David Every

I'm a retired PhD biologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I worked as an environmental consultant for 30+ years. I am a father of 4 and grandfather of 11. I love the outdoors. I served as a scoutmaster for 10 years. Now I spend more time gardening. My wife and I have been called to serve as a senior missionary couple.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church while I was in graduate school. After considering the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for several years, I realized that I had been judging the Book of Mormon by a different standard than the Bible. Then when I prayed to know if it is the Word of God, I received a positive feeling through the Holy Ghost. After I was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost, I was able to learn the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ very rapidly. Learning by the Holy Ghost was new to me and exciting. I rapidly got to the point where I knew so many Gospel points because of direct answers to prayer that I knew that this is God's Church with all of His truth.

How I live my faith

From the time that I decided to be baptized, I committed to strive to do all that I am supposed to do. I love to serve, and have served in many church callings. I was recently released as Bishop of our congregation so that my wife and I can go and serve as full-time missionaries.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

This is one of the most important doctrines to me. It shows that those who never got to hear or accept Jesus Christ before their death are not doomed to hell forever! God does love all His children and has provided a way for them to choose to be saved, too. Show more Show less
