Hi I'm Bonnie

I've lived in 8 states and 2 foreign countries. I love living now near Portland. I try to bloom where I'm planted. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am blessed to have 3 great sons, 5 wonderful daughters and a husband who loves to play with them. We have been married for 33 years and still enjoy going on dates. We are really having fun now that our grandchildren are starting to come! I've loved babies since I was little and I still always tear up when I hold a newborn. I am always looking for a baby to borrow and hold since my baby is now 15 years old. When I am not rocking a wee one, I love to read, play games with my family, learn to play the harp and expore the beauty of nature. Living in the Pacific Northwest is a treat because it is so gorgeous! I think that trees are miracles and that clouds get a bad rap, they are amazing!

Why I am a Mormon

My dad changed his life when I was a little girl and raised us from that time in the LDS church. He is my hero. He walks the walk every day and is a great example of living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I watched him and compared his life to his friends and siblings who didn't have the gospel. I wanted the life he had chosen. He never judged others but continued to love and serve them through all their challenges. Through his example I grew to love the scriptures and know my Savior Jesus Christ. As I have traveled around the world (I've been to church in 30 different countries), I have loved seeing the church work in every culture, just like the church that Christ established when he was here on earth. I love feeling at home and having an instant fellowship with my brothers and sisters in every land. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true in any language!

How I live my faith

Seeking God's presence in my life is a daily process. Reading the scriptures, listening to hymns and spiritural lectures and communicating with God through prayer help me find meaning and balance. Volunteering at school, at the Senior center, at the soup kitchen or driving Meals on Wheels (kids love to go) and serving in my church assignments allow me to give a little back. However, the most important work I do is "within the 4 walls of my own home". I would hope that my kids will want to know their Savior, Jesus Christ, because they knew that I knew Him. That would truly be paying it forward from my dad.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

First of all because Jesus commanded his disciples to teach all nations. Secondly, because you share great things with those you love. When I find something that is really wonderful and makes my life better, I want to tell the world! The gospel of Jesus Christ is like that. It makes life, the joys and the challenges, more meaningful and worthwhile. I want that for all my friends. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

I took my teenage son to a church food facility where they package food to send to the needy. Donning hairnets and gloves, we spent hours packing plastic bags of ADMIT, a powder substance that when added to water, creates an easy to digest food that serves to nourish starving children. We give money to help out, but giving time is even more fulfilling. I love that the church uses volunteers to staff so many projects and that way more money goes to reach those who need it.
