Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a Mormon. I am a native Arizonan. I teach college students. I am a mother, a wife, sister, aunt and daughter.

About Me

I love learning. That is why I am now teaching. I teach History and French at the college level. I recieved my BA degrees in History and French. I have my masters in History. I was strongly influenced by my teacher mother and my professor father to pursue my educational goals. I studied abroad in France and then I returned I taught English in France for a year. While I lived in France, I realized how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true in any language and any land. I marrie a wonderful man and now I am a mother of a sweet little girl. I feel truly blessed. I love to read pretty much any type of book. I enjoy eating great food and trying new restaurants. Travelling to new and favorite places is a passion of mine. I am always up for a movie and I love games. I can always be interested in games of strategy like Settlers of Catan and Clue.

Why I am a Mormon

Many might say they are Mormon because they were born into the LDS Church, but I truly believe that every member goes through a conversion whether they were born into the church or not. Having the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a central focus in my life brings everything into perspective. I was not rebellious as a teenager, but I did have questions. I prayed and faithful went to church meetings and read the scriptures. It did not come as a sudden inspiration, but gradually and over time I knew that I would never want to live any other way. As I was in graduate school, you are surrounded by different philosophies that put little stock into religion. The pursuit of knowledge to be obtained in the world seemed to be the best and final goal in life. However, in my mind, it is the knowledge of my Father in Heaven's plan for me that brings meaning to anything that I do. To be able to be married for eternity to a wonderful husband and to raise an eternal family is the highest honor I can ever imagine. I feel so blessed to know that my Savior Jesus Christ died for me so that even when I am so failable, I can repent and return to live with Him and my Heavenly Father. What is more beautiful and valuable than that?

How I live my faith

I appreciate the opportunities that being a member of the Church gives to me. I have recently been called to serve in the presidency for the women's organization in our ward. I am the counselor over the activities for the women. I am so excited! I have loved attending the meeting for women since the time I turned 18. I was so warmly welcomed into this organization of sisters. Each sister comes from a different background and has different life experiences. That is what makes the interaction between the women so rich. I hope that I can plan activities that will give meaningful experiences for the women in or ward. I also visit three different women in our ward. I have become friends with these women and feel blessed to be able to visit them in their homes. It forges a bond to serve others and see the impact that one person can make.
