Hi I'm Rikki

I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I love music, movies, and eating ice cream! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am studying Choral Music Education and I couldn't be happier. I love singing praises to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I love how music makes me feel emotions in a way nothing else can. I am studying what I am studying so that I can give other people the opportunities I have had to feel- to be human. I come from a crazy, but wonderful family. My brother and sister-in-law are two of my biggest examples these days (right after my parents.) They have shown me how to be humble, compassionate, and loving. On top of that, my sister-in-law has taught me how to make a wicked White Bean and Chicken Chili! I have, what I like to call, my "almost family." They have been shining examples to me since I was born. Now there are north of 10 grandkids in my "almost family" and they bring me more joy than words can describe. I am excited to be a mom someday! I love to watch movies, watercolor, pretend I'm a pro photographer, and organize! I also love Spain. I love everything about the language, the culture, and the people of Spain. I studied there last year and I am constantly thinking about when I will go back.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the gospel. I never had that "Aha!" moment when I realized this church was true. I have always had a sure testimony and that testimony is still constantly growing as I follow the commandments and let the Lord work in me. I know that this is His true church restored on the earth. I know that Joseph Smith was a means through which He restored it. I strive daily to be worthy to be an instrument through which the Lord can bless other people on this earth. I know that Thomas. S. Monson is the true and living Prophet of the Lord. I know that this work (to share His gospel throughout all the world) is inspired. I am so impressed by missionaries in the mission field who are devoting all of their time to spreading His word and bringing happiness to so many of my Heavenly Father's sons and daughters (that's right, I mean you!) We are all His sons and daughters. And Christ is our brother. I am a mormon, because it makes me a better daughter of God. Abiding by the principles of the restored gospel, makes me stronger, happier, more charitable, more thoughtful, and more Christ like. This is not to say that bad things don't happen. Hard things do happen. But, through Christ, I am able to see my trials and tribulations as blessings and opportunities for growth.

How I live my faith

Our church has a practice called "Family Home Evening." Best. Thing. Ever. Family is so important! So we think that it is an awesome idea to have family nights every week! Traditionally it is on Monday evenings. When you are attending a university (like I am), you have a group of students who come together as sort of a pseudo-family. I am lucky enough to be my FHE group's "mom". It is funnest calling ever. I get to plan activities with our other FHE group leader for all of our friends on Monday nights. We usually get together and do some fun activity along with a spiritual thought and treats! It is so fun to form bonds and grow as a group. It is also great practice for when I have a family of my own.
