Hi I'm Becca

I'm a single mom of 4 fantastic kids. I'm a preschool teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in central California with amazing parents and 3 siblings. I attended college at BYU, majored in Education and got married. After receiving my degree I taught 7th grade social studies until I had children. I was then blessed to be able to start the adventurous career of "stay-at-home mom". I have 2 girls and 2 boys and have recently become a single parent. Single motherhood was not a part of my plan and has presented many challenges but my faith has been the life boat that has kept me afloat. I run a home preschool business. I love reading (when I have time), running, playing piano, working in my kids classrooms, attending the temple, and spending time with dear family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ came when I was young. I was born and raised in the church by loving parents with strong testimonies. I attended church and was taught the gospel in my home. My personal conversion came as a youth when I read the Book of Mormon myself. I studied and prayed earnestly to know for myself that the book was truly the word of God. Over time the Holy Ghost testified to me that the words and stories I was reading were true. The Book of Mormon gave me a testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and his role as my Savior and Redeemer. That is exactly what the Book of Mormon claims to be "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". It's promise was fulfilled for me and my conviction continues to grow as I continue to study it. Mostly I just feel happy when I read it and learn something applicable every time. I have a strong testimony of obedience. God's commandments are a great blessing and opportunity for happiness. I have received such peace and hope from the knowledge that I can follow God's plan. This especially helps when life is out of my control. I so often can not control circumstances around me or other people's choices but I can be obedient and have peace that God will be with me. Joy will come regardless of circumstance if we try our best to obey his word and seek His Son.

How I live my faith

Living my faith brings me joy. I start my day with prayer and scripture study as often as I can. My children and I generally read scriptures at breakfast (It's a good quieter time when they are still a bit sleepy). We recently read the entire Book of Mormon together over the course of about a year and half. Because my children are all under age 11 it was a BIG accomplishment for us. We attend church every Sunday together and have weekly Family Night where we have a spiritual lesson, games, activities, scriptures and prayers. I go to the temple in Los Angeles often and try to bring my children with me on occasion. Even though they do not go inside with me they love to be on the beautiful temple grounds and visit the Visitor's Center which has many activities geared to children. I work with the young children in our ward (congregation) every Sunday teaching them lessons, singing songs and learning scripture stories with them. I love being able to be with my own children as well as about 40 other wonderful children of God at church. One of the greatest blessings of my membership in this church is the fellowship and friendships I enjoy. I have built life long friendships with women who visit me and serve me. I in turn have developed a deep love for serving others. This builds relationships and draws me nearer to my God and Savior. Whenever I engage in any of the above activities I feel the Holy Ghost whisper to me that this work, this church, is God's work. I am blessed to be his daughter and a part of building His kingdom in small but valuable ways. I know as I share the gospel with my children I am giving them the same keys to happiness I enjoy everyday even amid great trials.
