Hi I'm Kristina

I am from the state of Washington, I have three kiddos, I love teaching music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am more than a Mormon...I am a strong woman/loving wife/encouraging mother/hard worker/die-hard friend/loving daughter/wish-I-could-be-closer sister/dedicated teacher/disciple of Christ. But I am more than what the definition of these roles implies. I am someone who is trying to make a difference in my small sphere. I don't have a worldwide voice or a cool business or a famous accomplishment but I try really hard to be compassionate to every person I come in contact with. I love to read and watch movies and cook and do seasonal crafts with my kids. I love to shop in the clearance aisles of random stores and buy 50 cent movies at Half Price Books. It is really important to me to use my resources wisely and buy local and recycle and make things when I can. I love experiencing healing through essential oils and massage therapy and acupuncture but I'm on medication for my innate hyper-vigilance. My husband and I have been in school FOREVER which is how I know we will be married forever. If we can stand each other for this long and through the challenges we have faced so far we can make it another eternity. He is the sweetest gift the Lord has given me. My kids the second sweetest gift. They are very independent and individual and I am learning so much from being their mother. Mostly about how much I have left to learn. I am grateful to be me.

Why I am a Mormon

I teach piano lessons and I love it. I knew when I was a kid that I wanted to be a music teacher but I thought I couldn't for a while and finally just started teaching a couple of years ago at the urging of my sweet husband. Teaching has given me the hope in myself that I lost during years of depression and self loathing. It excites me every time one of my students masters a new skill or runs into the studio telling me they have their pieces memorized. It motivates me to look for good in everyone as I watch my students overcome the challenges that accompany learning an instrument. Most of all it brings me closer to my Savior. I know that my Savior feels that same joy of a teacher when I learn and grow and make mistakes and overcome the challenges of being human. As I learn to serve and love others more in spite of their mistakes I also learn to love myself more in spite of my mistakes and then I can better comprehend that my Savior loves me more because of my mistakes. I know He lives but to save me and give me the chance to live eternally with Him and my family. I know He loves me. I know He loves you.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is as my ward Compassionate Service Coordinator. There are so many individuals in a ward that are experiencing so many different things and we in the church have a strong desire to help as many as we can. So, with that in mind, a coordinator is assigned in each ward to "keep track" of what needs to be done. For instance, I keep track of everyone that is having a baby so that if they need meals brought in or child care or house cleaning done then I can ask someone to help with those things. Sometimes I am asked to help arrange funerals or rides to doctor's appointments. Most often I am someone that others can call and tell about their hard day and be sure of some compassion.
