Hi I'm Matt

I am a convert to the church; I joined when I was 39, divorced with 3 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a worldly Teenager and young man. Got married at 23 and have 3 kids from 31 to 27. After many years of Drug and Alcohol abuse I got divorced, lost my kids and was forced to do Drug and Alcohol Rehibilitation Program. In 1993 I got full custody of my kids back. Then in 1995 I met a wonderful lady who ended up introducing me to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Myself and my kids were baptized and my wife and I were married in the Temple in 1996. We raised 6 kids together and we know from experience that there is no such things as the Brady Bunch, we also learned how hard it is to blend a family, half of which are converts. We have 2 daughters who earned their YW medallions, 3 Eagle Scouts, and a returned Missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the spirit has always been strong to me and answering my prayers, when I read the Book of Mormon and prayer to know it was true, there was no doubting what I was told. Since then, 16 yrs have gone by and its still the same feelings. There have been waverings of my strength in the gospel when life has been overwhelming, but never a loss of the spirit of truth. I believe in the Youth programs that have helped my kids and step kids stay strong in the light of the worldly society.

How I live my faith

I have been a Clerk in the past, this is a record keeper for the Church. I have also been a Scout Master for the Young men in Boy Scouts. Being a Leader of Boys is exciting and challenging to make sure always to stand for the Ideals of Boy Scouts and the covenants of belonging to the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. It has been really exciting helping 3 of my sons become Eagle Scouts. Currently I am a assistant clerk and the Emergency Preparedness Specialist. As the Ward specialist I help coordinate emergency plans for the members and provide help and information on becoming perpared for any crisis that may come. This is rewarding because the preparing, first aid, and organizing is rewarding to me.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

For me, it became very personnal when one of my younger brothers was killed in a domestic disput. Through Jesus Christ and his atonement we can be perfected and live again in glory with our heavenly father and Jesus Christ. Through the blessings of Temples my brother can be perfected in body and soul by his choices while he waits for Chirst's return. Thomas will be sealed to myself through our parents and the portion of my family who so chooses the gospel in full will live together again in heaven with Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that this is true through prayer and the Holy Spirit who so testifies to me of this truth. Through the Holy Spirit all questions of the gospel can be answered now, not waiting until the Resurrection. Show more Show less
