Hi I'm Dallin

I'm studying Information Technology at college. I'm 18 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an 18-year-old sophomore studying Information Technology at a university. I absolutely LOVE to work with computers and imagining their full potential. I even work part time at a technical organization. I like to take a break from them though and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking in the mountains, scuba dive, or river rafting. When I have the time, I stay up on top of the latest political news nationally and locally. I've lived in 5 cities in three different states during my lifetime. What I really enjoy, though, is being with my family, especially during the holidays.

Why I am a Mormon

Let me explain why I'm a Mormon by comparing it to something familiar. You are out camping with a group on a cold fall night in the mountains. You left camp to explore, but now want to return. However it is now dark. You are wondering in the direction you believe camp is in, but are unsure. Finally to your joy you run into someone from your party who points to a distant light of a fire. He says if you keep walking toward that fire, you will find camp-Safety, warmth, and rest. He heads off to where he needs to go, and you start going towards that spec of light. As you get closer, it gradually gets brighter. You soon can make out more details of the camp and eventually confirm it is your camp. Finally, you fell the warmth of the fire and your party greets you as a friend. I was out wondering in the cold looking for what is really true. Then someone directed me to the goodness of the gospel of Christ and his true church. I then made the decision to walk to that light, or his gospel. I wasn't immediately at the light, or I didn't immediately know everything. No, I had to hike, diligently work, towards the light, towards home. Gradually, the light grew bigger and brighter as I approached it to the point that I can say "I know this is Christ's church." You can know, too.

How I live my faith

One of the many beauties of Christ's church is that it can be universally applied. I do my best to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. Although I am far from perfecting those, I improve over time. At work, at school, and with my friends I stay true to my values and knowledge of Christ. I'm at college. Although I don't drink, do drugs, or other similar activities, I still have fun at dances, parties, and other events. We find many things to do with our time that is aligned with Christ's teachings and are entertaining to do. At work by practicing Christ's teachings there, I find, among other things, I have more freedom, trust, and a greater ability to do the work. I have the respect of my coworkers for knowing I am a follower of Christ. When I am by myself, I also feel the influence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have peace when I'm alone with my thoughts. I can cling to Christ for security and help at any time. And when I need it most, I can feel his love. These are just a few areas of my life where Christ's teachings affect me. In reality he has changed me and reached into all areas of my life. I am a better person because of this transformation. I would not go back, no not even for all the gold in the world.
