Hi I'm Kevin

I'm a Christian, retired Correctional Officer, retired Reservist, Motorcycle Enthusiast, Grandfather and did I mention I'm Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a steel mill town in Illinois. I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Criminal Justice. I enjoy motorcycle riding, weight lifting, and spending time with my family. I have a wonderful wife and two beautiful children and eight grandchildren. I retired as a Correctional Officer after 20 years working at several institutions. My religion and faith have been my anchor through my challenging profession.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was in high school my high school sweetheart died in a car accident. Around the same time, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away. While trying to deal with my grief, I found a Book of Mormon in our basement. It had been given to my Mother approximately 30 years prior. I read several verses and was impressed by its content. After several discussions with the missionaries, I joined the church. My life, my marriage and my family have been richly blessed. The Book of Mormon has strengthened my testimony of my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. I love the Bible as well. The Bible and the Book of Mormon stand together as a witness of Jesus Christ and His divine mission. The Gospel gives me comfort and testifies to me again that we will get to live with those family members and friends that have passed beyond this life. It gives me hope for the future.

How I live my faith

Since my church clergy doesn't receive a salary, members are expected to hold church positions named callings. I have had several callings over the years such as Scoutmaster, Sunday school teacher, financial clerk and membership clerk. The church has a program called Home teaching. Home teachers are assigned approximately five families to visit once a month. They are representatives of our Bishop. I love Home teaching because it gives me the opportunity to share a gospel lesson and address any needs they maybe brought up to the Bishop. It's a great opportunity for service and is a great way to help the Lord watch over his children.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Kevin
I believe we have a prophet on the earth today, his name is Thomas S. Monson. I believe that God loves all of his children, past , present and future. Prophets of old such as Noah, Moses and Abraham led the church and preached the gospel. It is no different today, we have a living prophet on the earth today. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our religion. He is the son of the all mighty God who continues to love us in these modern times and continues to lead and guide through a living prophet. This gives me great comfort and peace while living in uncertain times. I invite you to learn of his teachings. Show more Show less
