Hi I'm Mariah

I'm a daughter, sister, friend, and GKLM missionary. I'm a chocoholic and lover of food, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the GKLM (Great Kentucky Louisville Mission) and I absolutely LOVE IT! I studdied in college for a year and a half, working on a nursing degree. Lacrosse is my passion-playing, coaching, watching, anything! I'm an ameature photographer, love music, and read everything I can get my hands on. I have the BEST family in the world!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always grown up being a Mormon. However, it takes more than just being born into the church to have a testimony and obtain conversion. I had the wonderful opportunity to serve on my high school's seminary council my senior year. I had a testimony before that, but I think that's when I really started living the gospel for me and my Savior, not just because it was something my family was a part of. I came to love my Savior so much that year, and I can't deny that testimony I started growing at that time. The peace and happiness that living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ brings into my life is beyond measure. I love that relationship I have with my Savior-that's the greatest blessing I have along with my wonderful family. What a blessing it is to know the truth:)

How I live my faith

For me, service is the best way I can show and live my faith. Through service, I know we can come closer to Christ, which in turn brings joy like nothing else. I am a firm believer that as we serve one another our heart grows bigger, no matter how much of a Grinch we might be sometimes. This world just needs a lot more love, and one person at a time we can change the world:)

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

The temples on the earth today are for performing ordinances (sacred ceremonies) and covenants (promises between us and God.) We perform baptisms for the dead in the temples for those people who did not have that opportunity on earth to get them done. Without some of these ordinances and covenants, their eternal progression is halted. It is simply a service given to those who want it. These spirits who have passed on have the option and opportunity of either accepting or denying these actions on their behalf. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ. The last page in the introduction of the Book of Mormon tells us what we will learn and gain from reading, pondering and then praying about the Book of Mormon. It reads as follows; "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah." The Book of Mormon helps us grow closer to Christ. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

The family is ordained of God. God sent us here in families to have the support and happiness we all need and search for in this life. Salvation is individual, however if we are faithful, we can return to the presence of God and live together as families, forever!! Satan atacks the family on all fronts. In the year 2000, the church came out with a document called, "The Family-A Proclamation to the World." This document is a great guide to me and my family in helping us be united and happy. I know that the greatest happiness we can find in this life is by living the gospel of Jesus Christ as a family! Show more Show less
