Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three young children. I am also an electrical engineer working for a local electrical utility. I love most to spend time with my wife and family and even more if it's in the mountains hiking or camping. But, when I'm not doing that I am also an avid amateur photographer and cyclist, mountain or road. I live in a place where we can expect freezing temperatures 6 months out of the year but I don't actually like winter so much.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I had received no religious upbringing but my Grandparents were active in their Christian faith. At one point, early in my twenties, I felt something missing and that I needed to join a church. My roommate and good friend invited me to his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I did and I immediately asked the missionaries if I could learn more about the church. They taught me the lessons and asked if I would be baptised. I said yes but through prayer I set out to know for myself if this was really the right decision, at their suggestion. While pondering the subject, a feeling of peace came to me saying that being baptized was indeed good. For one of the first times that I could remember, I felt the Holy Ghost testify of tuthfulness to me. I regard the decision to be baptized as the most important and significant decision I've made. I have a strong testimony that I am a son of my Heavenly Father with great potential. I am keenly aware that he is deeply interested in the welfare of each of us on earth and that he wants us to come back to live with him as we did before we came to earth. To that end, I known that he has provided his Son for us, Jesus Christ, that we need not suffer for our sins because Christ has already done this for all of us. We just need to repent and come unto Him to be able to apply His atoning blood in our lives. I also have received my own personal witness that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. Just as in ancient times we have a living prophet on earth today to help guide us. Because of my membership in the church I met my darling and beautiful wife, Lori, with whom I have three wonderful children. I consider marrying Lori to be the second best decision I've made in my life. I am more in love with her now than I ever have been and this is because of our adherence to the doctrine and principles contained in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I joined the church 11 years ago when I was 23. Since then I have served in various capacities in the church such as planning activities, leading the youth, leading missionary efforts, managing administrative tasks, leading quorums of brethren in different individual church units and, currently, representing leadership over multiple church units. But, my activities in the church are not the first, second, nor even the third highest priority for me. My chief priority in life is my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Lord Jesus Christ. My main concern is keeping the covenants I've made with my God. Keeping the first and greatest commandment to love the Lord my God with all my heart, and with all my soul, and with all my mind, and with all my strength helps all the other commandments I am required to keep fall into place. After this, my relationship with my wife is paramount. Without a solid relationship with her, my family, my third highest priority in all I do, would be destroyed. My work comes next and finally my service in the church.
