Hi I'm Wayd

I grew up in Nebraska. I love people and music. I'm an Opera Singer, a Pianist, a Son and Brother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up Nebraska and am proud of it! It may be flat, but it makes for AMAZING sunsets. Before coming here to Quebec, I was going to college in Idaho, and was a vocal performance major. After my mission, I want to continue in my schooling, and, hopefully, become an opera singer. Recently I have gotten into composing my own songs and have found a lot of joy in that. I have been in music my whole life. I come from a very musical family, all of us sing and play the piano. So I spent a lot of time as a child singing around the piano with my family, and fell in love with opera after seeing my sister perform. I love my family! We are all Husker fans, so we have spent a lot of time watching and playing football together. Also, I love tennis. I played all throughout high school, and love to watch/play with my family and friends. Other than that, I love being around people, and am SOOO grateful for the relationships I have and will have.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child, I could see then that I had a happy family and there was a lot of joy in my life. I had a mom and dad who loved me, and many good examples around me. However, at the time I don't know if i realized where all of this love and joy came from. As I grew, I started to see I was different from a lot of people, and this at times was difficult. I didn't drink, smoke, or do drugs. I went to church every Sunday. Though difficult at times, I saw how these things helped my in my life. Then in Fall of 2009, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was a little much for me to handle. I thought to myself " Why is this happening to me now?" I was at college far from home and trying to figure out what I wanted in life. It was in this difficult time that I really found out why I am a Mormon. In this time of wondering why, I found out there was someone there for me who always understood what I was going through. Who undestood when I was crying and feeling helpless. Who understood when I was angry and upset. Sometimes in our lives things happen to us, and we don't know why. However, I know that our Savior Jesus Christ is always there for us, even when we don't understand why. In this time in my life I recieved so much comfort from knowing he was there for me and he knew what I was going through because he already suffered everything for us. Also, I felt so much comfort from reading the Book of Mormon, and seeing how my family, especially my mother, was strengthened from it. I know it is truly a book that testfies that Jesus is the Christ and that no matter what has happened in our life he is alway there to run to our aid. This is why I am a Mormon. I have seen how this church has held me and my family together in our darkest hours. I saw how this situation prepared us as a family for other things that have occured in our lives. I love the peace, joy and love that comes from being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well, I would hope that living my faith is apart of who I am. Right now, I am serving a full time mission for 2 years in Quebec, and it has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I love talking to people and just being able to be there for them, like our Savior is always there for us. I realize I am far away from that example but I try my best to be there when people need me. Whether that is for a listening ear, or they need me to sing for them. I love being a friend, and I believe that our true best friend is the Savior, who never judges and accepts us for who we are. I would hope that I live my faith by being the best friend I possibly can be. I also live my faith through my music. I know that my musical talent truly comes from God, and I have been able to use that all throughout my life by performing in musicals and being apart of various choirs and musical groups. Music is a great gift from God, it is, for us, the emotions that can't be written but only sung.
