Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a daughter, a sister, and an aunt. I'm a person just like you. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a small family, my parents, one brother, a sister-in-law and 1 adorable nephew. I have traveled a little bit and have fallen absolutely in love with it. I paint, draw, and create. I invent things in the kitchen and usually it's not too bad... In my past, religion has always been an issue. Until I went to college and was "on my own" I had no idea how important having faith in something was.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the right thing for me. I was introduced to the church when I was 4, that's when my mom joined. She took my brother and me to church almost every Sunday, I was baptized at 8. My dad was baptized into the church when I was 18, one month after my brother returned from his mission. I wasn't active in the church until shortly after that. I had spent all of my adolescence avoiding the Mormon community and doing what I wanted, or thought I wanted. When I went to college I was able to see the 'real world' more clearly, I learned that there are consequences for actions that you do and you cannot escape them. I looked for a place to turn where I could feel good about myself, for the choices I made and find support and guidance. The church was there, it found me. The members reached out and gave me exactly what I was looking for, it was the place where I found the family support that I left at home during the school year. I had people in my life everyday that knew me, loved me, and wanted the best for me. I was very skeptical, of all of the teachings, doctrines and principles that the church presented to me but after pondering them, praying about them and carefully considering their real message I finally understood. More importantly than understanding though, I agreed. I loved the messages and ideas that were presented and everything that was offered, I wanted. I know that by obeying the commandments of God, I will be able to receive all of the blessings He promises. I know, that without a shadow of a doubt, He loves me and He knows me. Better than anyone else, including myself. He knows the desires of my soul and the needs of my absolute being. As I strive to do my best to obey, He will give me those things.

How I live my faith

I live my faith, from now until 2013, as a full time missionary. I spend my days studying, teaching, testifying and sharing the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Before I was called on my mission I taught the 7 year olds in Sunday-school and before that I taught the 18 months-3 year olds. Together, my missionary companion and I visit those who are in need and serve those who benefit from it, sharing our testimonies along the way. I know that Christ spent his time serving others, and I am so glad that I am able to follow his example by serving my brothers and sisters.
