Hi I'm Cathy

I'm a Mormon. I found the church when I was in college. It is the best thing in my life.

About Me

Hi! My name is Cathy, and I live in South Carolina. I taught High School Math for most of my career before I retired this year. My husband, Eddie, and I adopted five children, all boys. I love music, movies and I especially love to read. All our boys are grown and several of them have families of their own. We have eleven beautiful grandchildren. I am a Morman - a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a student in college a dear friend started going to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She invited me to her baptism which was done in a branch off the Catawaba River, because the small church building did not have a baptisimal font. The Sunday before her baptism she invited me to church with her. It was the Fast and Testimony meeting. During this meeting members of the Church stand and bear testimony of Jesus Christ and their feelings about membership in His church. Many people humbly said they knew Jesus was their savior, and that they knew the Bible and the Book of Mormon were the word of God, and that Christ's Church had been restored to the earth. After the meeting I questioned some of them. "How can you know? You can believe, but how can you know?" They smiled and said, "Talk to the missionaries." Thus began my investigation of the church. The missionaries gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon, and read me the promise found in Moroni which says if you read the book and ask God with real intent if it is true, He will let you know, by the power of the Holy Ghost. I took the lessons, I read and prayed about the Book of Mormon, and I decided to put it to the test and live like a member of the church. The next Fast sunday I fasted and prayed to know if the teachings are true. I stood in the meeting and said I didn't know it was true, but that I was praying for an answer. After six weeks I decided to be baptized. I told the missionaries that I believed but I could not yet say "I know." I was baptized in the same place my friend was, in April. I was confirmed while kneeling on a huge rock I felt the spirit, and it thrilled my soul. And I knew! I can honestly say I know that Jesus is the Christ, that his church has been restored. I know the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. My prayers were answered.

How I live my faith

My testimony of Jesus Christ and my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are among the most important things in my life. I love the church! It has programs for members of all ages and situations. The people in our church are awesome!
