Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 little people and a wife to one hunk of a man. I am a competitive long distance runner. I love to read, sew, bake, and listen to great music. When I am outside I like to hike, mountain bike, camp, and just spend time with my family. I served an LDS mission in 1996-1997 in Peoria, IL and Nauvoo. I am so in love with my family and with life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church but that is not why I am a Mormon. I believe I was blessed with the ability to FEEL. I am not a scholar of the scriptures. I most definitely am not blessed with the ability to use fancy words or beautiful speech. I don't pretend to know all about religion. But I do feel God's love. I feel His love when I am reading his words in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I feel Him there listening to me as I pray for direction on how to help my son with autism or how to offer my husband relief from the endless demands of work. I feel Gods' patience as I try again and again to make him my everything and not let the world more important than our relationship. I believe that God has allowed me to feel these things so I know where to go, what to do, how to live my life. He loves me and wants me to be happy. I am the most happy when I know who he is, let him into my life and allow him to lead me by the hand. I have found these feelings of peace and love in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I do not know everything but I focus on what I do know about the gospel and I know He lives and this is where he wants me to be.

How I live my faith

I believe in giving back. I have been given so much as far as meaningful relationships in my life, people who are willing to give of their time to get to know me, help me with whatever I may need help with at the moment, mourn with me and comfort me. Because I want to give back I serve in the church wherever God thinks I can be of use. Right now I am serving as a leader in the primary. I have been asked to train the primary presidents how to love the children in the church. We teach them that the most important thing is to teach the children about the love Jesus has for them. Help the children gain a solid faith in their Savior so they will know where to go for help when they feel the pressures of life that will inevitably come. If they know how to pray...really pray, then they will always have the strength to overcome the temptations that Satan will place before them. Satan is strong. He is probably stronger than any of us. But he is not stronger than us and Jesus together.
