Hi I'm Lindsey Kim

I'm a writer/editor attending Utah State University, currently serving in the California Sacramento Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm serving in the California Sacramento Mission (best mission ever!). I'm all about spending time with friends and family and experiencing all the good that there is in the world. I love trying new things. I love to learn. I love people. I think that life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured and so I try to enjoy every minute of it. I'm a Professional/Technical Writing major at USU. I'm a lifelong member of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc. There's nothing in this world more important to me than my loved ones. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has provided a way for me to be able to spend eternity with those I love and in the presence of my Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are converts and so I was raised a Mormon. But my parents never forced the church down my throat; they let me make my own choices. They let me learn what was true for myself. I think people jump to conclusions and think I'm Mormon because I "don't know anything different." I do know more than just being Mormon, and I'm choose to remain Mormon because this church makes too much sense to be false. It makes sense that God would create a plan that would work for ALL of His children, not just some. Of course God loves us and would call another prophet to be a spokesperson and to teach us His ways. Of course He would give us more scripture, more knowledge, to help us return to Him. All of these little truths, these "aha!" moments I've gained over my life have led me to believe that this church is the only true and living church on the earth today that is truly led by Jesus Christ. It didn't come all at once; I had to do some deep studying (my religion and others), I had to pray, and I had to ask God if these things were real. I had to put all of these commandments and these principles to test to see if they would really, truly bless my life. And the wonderful thing I've found is that they have blessed my life. I did as Christ taught; I asked, I sought and I knocked and I found the truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith learning about my Savior. By learning about my Savior, I know what He expects of me and then in turn I'm able to act and do what He wants me to do. In a way, life is like a game; how can you play if you don't know all the rules? Without knowing the rules and how to play, it's impossible to win. By learning all that I can about my Savior and His gospel, I'm showing Him that I truly appreciate what He's done for me. I show that I appreciate His example and His sacrifice. In living the principles that I learn, I'm showing my Savior and my Father in Heaven that I have a desire to be who they want me to become and truly desire to live with them again. I live my faith by learning and by obeying the commandments of the Lord. I live my faith by attending my church meetings, studying my scriptures, making my family my priority and sharing the Gospel with God's children.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Lindsey Kim
There are three things that someone can do to get to know Heavenly Father: 1) Talk to Him through prayer. Seems so simple, right? You get to know someone by talking to them, it's the same way with our Father in Heaven. Talk to Him like you would talk to your own father or a close friend. Tell Him about your day, what's on your mind, and what you're struggling with. Ask Him for help with your struggles, ask Him to help guide you throughout your day. 2) Read the scriptures. Someone once told me that if you need to talk to God, you should pray; If you need God to talk to you, you should read your scriptures. The scriptures are more than just stories; they are special witnesses and testimonies of the Lord's apostles and prophets. These men have had spiritual experiences with the Lord and have recorded them for the benefit of His children. By sincerely studying the scriptures, you can come to know the Lord's character and how He interacts with His children. 3) Keep His commandments. When I was younger I used to hate all the "rules" the Lord gave us, and I understand where most of the world is coming from; they seem like limitations. The Lord gave us each commandment for a specific reason and you won't find out what that reason is until you live it. Living His commandments will bring you closer to the Lord and help you to know Him better. Show more Show less
