Hi I'm Maria Elena

I grew up in Mexico City to wonderful parents. I am the oldest of three girls and now a wife and mother of four. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom! I have four children: 2 girls and 2 boys. I home-school my Jr. High kids. Hopefully one will be attending college next year with the hopes she'll be able to go to BYU Idaho. My husband is from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico. I've been married for 18 years and I love to be home with my kids...

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Since I was a child I had the opportunity to meet the missionaries, they were big white giants... (because they were tall and light complexion... especially with their blond hair)I could hardly understand what they were saying because they couldn't speak Spanish very well. My father had always impress the importance of teaching us about God, that he existed and that we should honor Him. My mother didn't like the idea of us learning "another" religion, and we stopped the visits with the American missionaries. After a separation later on of my parents. My mother met my father again and he asked my mother to give him a second chance, my mother saw the sincerity and the change he had in his life. My father wanted to be a family again. My mother asked us (three daughters) to make a decision. We decided to give our father an opportunity to conquer our hearts again. The powerful reason of his change was due because he had known the gospel. He knew he was missing the great opportunity to be with his family and that he was wasting his time with things that did not make him happy. This meant for us to move to Mexico since we were living in the United States. We were able to find out why the change of heart and it was because he was a "Mormon"... later on, I follow his example and I was baptized on December 5th, 1982. Date that I never forget because it was a complete change in my life, I was a follower of Jesus Christ. It is not easy... but it is worth it! Through the study of the scriptures and prayer, and the example of life my father had given me I was able to understand the great love Our Heavenly Father has for each and everyone of us. I love the gospel, I love Our Savior Jesus Christ, I love Our Heavenly Father and without doubt I know he loves everyone in this earth. I love being a Latter Day Saint!!

How I live my faith

I have been a member exactly today that December 5th, 2011 for 29 years!! I have serve in the church in many areas and I have love each of them, with children, youth, and adults. Thanks to the service I gave to the church I was inspired to teach preschool and primary in Mexico City. I have also serve a full time mission in the North Mexico City Mission and then I was transferred to become a pioneer on the Tampico Mexico Mission. Definitively my mission has been a treasure in my life because of the many experiences I had which have helped me to live my life today. The most important thing right now is being a mom, I love to spend time with my kids. I love them very much. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is for us to understand how to go back to Our Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ give his life for us. I know that life gives us good and bad experiences ... I can testify to that ... I got some gray hair from it!! Although; in the way we feed our spirit is the form that we will overcome our obstacles. If you have the oportunity to know the missionaries ... don't miss it. I love the missionaries when they come to our home. Their messages have helped me overcome my many burdens. I'm actually writing this here because one of our missionaries from the Fresno California Mission asked me to share my feelings with you. Elder Putman ... I did it!! Elder Furness another missionary that has motivated my family and me to keep up with feeding our spirit and Elder Sanchez (from El Salvador) thank you for your good humor and smiles. I am grateful for all the missionaries ... for sharing the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ. With love ♥
