Hi I'm Christian

I love bioinformatics. I enjoy hiking and being outdoors. I am a brother to six sisters. I am a Mormon.

About Me

When I was younger, my family went through a few big changes. We moved from our coastal neighborhood to a town in the middle of a valley desert. My mom and dad shortly divorced after. Since then, my mom found another man to marry, and who has adopted me and my sisters. He is my dad, he has shown me that hard work not only helps ourselves, but those around us. Growing up, I would help him with projects on the house and cars. I enjoy working on cars and with my dad, we restored a 1980 Pontiac Firebird. I was also involved with the scouting program growing up, and I like to be outdoors hiking, camping and spelunking. Today, I'm a student of Biology and Computer Science, and plan to use what I have and gain to help others around me.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, we were catholic with my grandparents, but my mom felt like there was something more. Missionaries came to our new home and taught us that God has not left us to find our way on our own, but that He has called a prophet to teach and guide us today like in ancient times. I followed my Mom's example, and was baptized when I was 9. Thereafter, I pretty much went through the motions as a kid. It wasn't until one of my older sisters passed away during my senior year of high school that I started to pay more attention to the teachings of the church about eternal families. By continuing to learn more, participating in activities, and Sunday services, I've learned the truthfulness of those missionaries' message. I know that this church is Jesus Christ's church; that it was restored by Jesus Christ, through His servant Joseph Smith. I know that God continues to call prophets today to lead and teach us gospel truths. I know that most importantly, the priesthood, or authority from God to do His work here on Earth was restored. This has helped me because it gives me a sense of who I am, as a spirit son of Heavenly Father, and a sense what this life is for and why we are given challenges. Knowing His love for me has been irreplaceable and helps me through rough times. I know that through continuing to apply Jesus Christ's sacrifice to my life and using it to grow has helped me.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ taught us to do good to those we meet. I never left the scouting program, but continued as an assistant scout master. I helped others learn skills that will help them all throughout life. By doing good to those we meet we show our faith in Heavenly Father's commandments. Our faith is best used as we let it drive our actions. Because Christ helped us to have better lives, we can go out and help to lift others. I served a mission in the Colorado Colorado Springs Mission to help others in any way I could, but especially through helping them know how Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father can and want to be a big part in our lives today.
