Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 2 daughters. I enjoy reading, playing Cityville on Facebook, and chatting with old/new friends. I served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years before I became a mother. My husband of 23 years is a retired Marine. I have lived across the United States, in various places.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child I attended a Baptist church because the bus picked me up. I enjoyed going to Sunday School to learn more about Jesus and to sing songs. As I grew older, I stopped attending. I believed in God and knew that his son, Jesus, died for our sins, but I never thought much past that. This year I started feeling like something was missing in my life, but wasn't sure what it could be. I had my family around me, a home to live in, food to eat-what could be missing. I pushed this feeling aside and continued on with life. I didn't know much about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints other than what the few members I had encountered told me. This past summer I had the opportunity to meet 2 sister missionaries from this church and I realized what was missing in my life-God, our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. As I studied with the missionaries, it became very clear to me that I was worthy enough to repent and be baptized. The first time I attended service at the Church I was made welcome by the Bishop's words to me. I continued studying with the missionaries and decided to be baptized and confirmed in the church. The journey to get to that day was short but the soul searching and reflecting on my past seemed to go on forever. After being baptized and then being confirmed by the laying of the hands, I felt a great calmness come over me and have continued to feel the inner peace.

How I live my faith

I have just now been given the opportunity to begin visiting teaching and I look forward to serving with other members of the church. I have had the privilege of discussing the gospel with many others in the church and am grateful for any insight that I am given. I try to read a chapter of scriptures each day and pray for guidance so that I may continue to be blessed with the presence of the Holy Ghost.
