Hi I'm Dena

I'm a Colorado native. I volunteer my time advocating for abused women and children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mom with two daughters, one of them on the Autism Spectrum. I've lived everywhere from Upstate New York to Southern California. I love to bargain shop, wake up at the crack of dawn for Black Fridays, and spend time reading with my children. I love to spend quiet time at home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church as a child, when many of my friends growing up were Mormon. We went with them to Primary (religious activities and lessons for children). I loved the cookies! ;~) When I was 19, my mom remarried a member of the Church and we began to see a difference in our family life. I decided to learn as much as I could about the Church and it's teachings to decide once and for all if it was the right decision for me. I took the lessons from missionaries when I went away to school and knew that this was the right choice for me after praying about it and knowing with a surety that this was the True and Living Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I was baptized and later served a mission for the Church in France, which was a wonderful experience on every level.

How I live my faith

I have one of the best assignments in my ward. (I believe so, that is!) I serve weekly in the ward library, assisting other members in finding materials allowing them to have visual aids or other support materials to enrich their lessons. I love helping in this way! During the week, I am a Girl Scout Leader and spend time advocating for change in the legal arena for women and children who are victims of domestic violence and abuse. I enjoy teaching my children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. This principle is central to our religion.
