Hi I'm Talyn

Wife, mother, singer, teacher, reader, and Mormon.

About Me

I'm a former elementary school teacher, current stay at home mother of three children. I fulfill my need to teach by tutoring and teaching in the Primary organization at church. Although I spend a lot of time cleaning the floor, feeding children, and doing laundry I also really enjoy reading, ethnic dance (like Polynesian, Irish, and belly dance), and singing. My soul is joyful when I am singing. I also enjoy learning. I love to take online courses and develop new talents, like sewing and cooking. I'm passionate about the beauty of womanhood, and am forever trying to live up to that privilege.

Why I am a Mormon

Having grown up in the church I was always taught that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the only church on the face of the earth with a fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a seven-year-old girl I was suddenly fearful that what I had been taught was wrong. What if I was really a member of the wrong church? What would that mean for me now and after I died? So I prayed about it. The answer I got was clear. A voice came to my mind as a feeling of peace and confidence filled me, "Talyn, you already know. This is My church." Since then, whenever I have doubts, I take them to the Lord and He answers me by name. "Talyn, you already know. The Book of Mormon is true." "Talyn, you already know. He is a true prophet." Or sometimes, "Talyn, you're not ready to understand that yet. Keep studying and for now just remember what you already know. I love my children. You are my daughter. I love you." With a loving Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ constantly expressing their love for me, I can't turn away.

How I live my faith

I enjoy working in the Primary, the church's organization for children up to age 12. I love to be with them, laugh with them, learn from them and with them, and watch them be their beautiful selves. I love teaching them the gospel of Jesus Christ, which brings joy and peace. I love concentrating on the simple and beautiful truths. I also live my religion by teaching my children about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray with them, read scriptures with them, and teach them how to follow Christ's example. Of course I also learn a lot about how to follow Christ's example from them.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

We love to talk in person about the Mormon religion! Don't hesitate to ask friends or acquaintances who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You can also click on the "talk with a member of the Church" here at mormon.org. Like I said, we love to talk about it. Show more Show less
