Hi I'm Garth

I'm a husband, father of four children, work as an insurance broker, love playing outside and coaching basketball.

About Me

My wife put a sign up in our house that says, "work hard, play hard." That is how I like to live my life. I believe in earning what I get, providing for myself and my family and making no excuses for failures. Bad things happen, but we must find a way to overcome the bad and seek out the good. As a reward for persistence and hard work I love to play. I love to waterski, snow ski, golf, travel, watch sports, play sports, coach sports, go out to dinner and a show, have sponateous family fun activities and more. I need balance and hard work rewarded with hard play is the best way for me to achieve that goal.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I was baptized in October 1999 at the age of 20. I had been around one form of religion or another for my whole life not really buying into or feeling that it was of any value. During my early college years I was more concerned with living in the moment and never thought of any consequences of my actions or any reason to exist beyond the present situation. When I learned about the church through the missionary discussions and the examples of other church members around me it was alot for me to digest. I took my time and really pondered the decision to be baptized. I did not want to be a member of the church and then not live it. Living a gospel centered life is not easy. Most good things worth having require some effort and so does living the gospel. Becoming a member of the LDS church was the best decision I ever made. I am happily married with 4 wonderful, healthy children, my other family relationships are stronger then they ever have been before, I have my health and a great career. I am happy, and I know that I would not be without the church in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being involved. I try my best to do what is asked of me to help the other members of my congregation as I attend my church meetings weekly. I have worked with the youth as a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader. I have spent time in leadership positions of a quorum of my peers. I am currently working to help promote the local missionary efforts of the church by sharing my testimony of Jesus Christ with the people around me, teaching lessons to investigators with the full time missionaries, and most importantly doing the best that I can to be an example to the people around me.
