Hi I'm Sally

I'm a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a retiree, and a volunteer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up attending a Baptist church with my father's family. I learned that there are many ways to worship God, to express love for Him and to serve Him. As a teenager, I was active in the Mormon church, attending every activity that I could. I attended BYU for a short time before getting married. My husband and I have been married for 44 years. He is not a member of the Mormon church. I have three adult children, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law. They are wonderful, loving people. I have three of the best grandsons in the whole world. I love spending time with my family. I completed my BA degree in 1993 and earned an MS degree in 1997. I took an early retirement in 2003 and have been enjoying my family, my church callings, travel, and volunteer work ever since.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a Mormon mother and a Baptist father. At the age of 8, I wanted to be baptized as a member of the Mormon church. As a teenager, I questioned my decision. The Holy Spirit bore testimony to me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ. Throughout my life when problems, trials, or doubts have challenged me, when I pray to ask for guidance, the Spirit has brought me the assurance that this is the truth. I KNOW this Church is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I know that God lives and that He loves me. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ, died for us. I know that if I live righteously, I'll return to live with Him someday. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. That through Him the true Church was restored to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ and that it and the Bible are the word of God. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church I have held callings in Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and Sunday School. I'm currently a counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. I try to read my scriptures daily and to pray to my Heavenly Father often. I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help my make daily choices. I am so grateful for the feeling of love and support that comes when I am doing what I know pleases my Heavenly Father. I also volunteer in the community. In the past, I've been a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den leader, a volunteer tutor, and I currently volunter in the Red Cross blood donor room. I love meeting the donors, those who come regularly to give their time and their blood to help others.
