Hi I'm Laura.

I grew up on a farm in southern Indiana. I am a wife and mother of three children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of three children. I became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was a young single adult. My parents raised five children on a farm and we were active in the nearby Baptist Church. I enjoy working in our yard and garden, playing the piano, and being outdoors with my family. I work outside the home part time as a tax preparer. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and worked in the area of Human Resources for many years.

Why I am a Mormon

I had always been active in the Bapist church growing up. When I graduated from college and moved away from home to work and live, I began searching for a new church to call home. I attended several churches, Baptist, Methodist, and others. I soon found out that there were two sister missionaries living in the same apartment complex as me at the time and we became friends. They taught me the gospel from the LDS perspective and everything they said rang true to me. (They told me I was a "golden" investigator, meaning I accepted the doctrines and truths they were teaching with ease and enthusiasm!) I was particularly interested in the idea of living prophets and apostles. Why shouldn't we have prophets now like they did during the times of the Old and New Testaments? Did God love the people of those times more than us now? Of course not! He loves all of his children, whenever and where ever they lived. Prophets and apostles give us guidance for our day, to live righteously and to encourage us to follow the example of the Savior. I am grateful for living apostles and prophets who speak to us regularly and give us wise and inspired counsel in dealing with the difficult issues of our day.

How I live my faith

Since my baptism over 25 years ago, I have always been active in volunteering at church. I have taught young children, teens and adults over the years. I have worked with Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in various leadership positions. I am currently overseeing all the activities and Sunday lessons taught to the women of the congregation. We try to teach lessons that will inspire them to strengthen their families and motivate them to follow the example of Jesus Christ, to become what he wants us to become.
