Hi I'm Ilene

I'm a "cheerleader" for all the important people in my life. My hobby is service! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies are - FAMILY - being a cheerleader for all the important people in my life as a wife for 48 years, a mom of 6 children, grandmother of 20 (& counting) and a soon to be great-grandmother; 2nd - Volunteer Service, and I also love to read, walk most every day, cook and sew. Compiling memories and family histories and learning more about my ancestors are also hobbies.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon or member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the truths and principles found therein which are based on the teachings, life, and Atonement of the Savior, Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. These truths and principles give me a fullness of knowledge to guide my life and all those I cherish and love. I have a firm testimony that the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is true as it has been restored in these latter-days through living Prophets. My life has purpose and meaning because I know that I am literally a daughter of my Heavenly Father and that He knows me personally and desires the best for me; and I know that the Savior, Jesus Christ atoned for my sins so that I can strive daily to repent and obey His will. As I follow these restored truths and principles and 'endure to the end' of my life in doing so, I know I will have the greatest blessing of all - to be united eternally with my family and those I cherish and love in the presence of our Heavenly Father and Elder Brother, Jesus Christ. I know that because of the Savior's resurrection, ALL who have died will live again! I know that the Book of Mormon is a second witness of Jesus Christ, along side the Bible, & that these scriptures, along with other revealed scriptures in these latter-days contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What joy all of these truths and principles bring and I know they are true. I am humbly grateful for the Plan of Happiness for me and my loved ones which is contained in the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

The Savior said "Come Follow Me"! That is how I try to live my faith as a Mormon and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - by following His example. As stated earlier, my passion is giving service to family and others. I have given volunteer service all of my life in all the communities in which I have had the opportunity to live. In the community where I was born and reared I've worked along many others to help put on "Swiss Days" which happens each year. In all the communities where I have lived in Utah, Illinois, Missouri, Haiti, & Montreal I have assisting with various grade school and high school activities such as working in the libraries, assisting cross country teams, and endless other activities to help make the community a better place for all. I have always given volunteer service in church callings throughout all of my young adult life and adult life helping and teaching youth (in addition to my own children); teaching primary age children and adult women through church callings, planning wholesome and worthwhile service activities such helping with Eagle Scout projects, Humanitarian Service Projects (making quilts, gathering clothing, food, medical kits, newborn kits and other necessities) for those less fortunate. I have been a visiting teaching to other sisters in the Latter-day Saints church congregations where I have resided for over 50 years giving service and love. I, along side of my husband, have given volunteer service as a missionary couple for three years in Port-au-Prince Haiti and am now giving, again, volunteer service for 18 months in Montreal, Canada. I have always strongly believed that "actions speak louder than words". That is how I try to live my faith. The words to a hymn says it all "As I have loved you, love one another. This new commandment; Love one another. By this shall men know ye are my disciples, if ye have love One to another."
