Hi I'm Alex

I grew up Virginian, served a mission in upstate New York. I love movies, board/card/video games & anime. I'm a very big geek!

About Me

I'm a geek for movies, games and anime. I'm a very unique individual, in terms of blood & culture. I have Chilean & German blood and was raised by American & Jordanian parents. I'm an older brother and I have a college degree in Business Administration, which I'm hoping to use someday.I may be Utahn now, but in my heart I'll always identify as Virginian. I also have seizures and these have in some senses crippled me, but they helped me find what's truly important in life.

Why I am a Mormon

These last 7 years have been the best 7 years of my life. I have the confidence that I can do all things. Before I became Mormon, I didn't have the confidence to try going for higher learning, but that has changed over the last 7 years. I also wasn't sure what (if anything) I really wanted to do with my life, but that too has changed for me. I met my first Mormon friend in 1994 and we forged a very strong friendship, and the definite high point of that friendship came 10 years later when he baptized me. He was one of the few good people I had in my life, and while those were hard to find at most points in my life, they became a great deal harder to find after 9/11, so I definitely wanted to have him be a part in my life. After a while, I noticed that his family was really happy together and I wanted that for my family. Eventually I met with missionaries from his ward.Over the next month I learned what they had to teach me and I was baptized. I know that since becoming Mormon my life has become completely & totally better. I have hope for my future and faith that their is a higher power watching out & helping us along the road of life. I have found virtue still thriving among people in this time. I have confidence in myself and in the changing capability of others.

How I live my faith

Well aside from the typical answers of reading scriptures and manuals, i do make it a fairly regular habit of going to the temple often, whether for myself or for my ancestors (having ancestors on 4 continents means there's ALWAYS work to be done.) Another way I'd say I live my faith is I'm not as worried about the current state of our country, because regardless of who is in Washington, I know who's got the planet in the palm of His Hands.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Mormon Temples are used for enabling family ancestors who have ascended past the Earth to be together with their families of times past or times present. Many people have the phrase that "Heaven wouldn't be heaven without my family" and the Mormon Temples guarantee that right be available for all of us! Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, not all Mormons are required to serve a mission. If you have health reasons that would make serving a mission difficult or impossible, then you aren't expected to serve a mission. While many have the desire to serve, not all are required to serve. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Because if the family is weak, then the "test" we came to Earth for is going to be very hard, if not impossible to pass. Also, families can OR should be one of our greatest sources of happiness on Earth. Show more Show less
