Hi I'm Jennifer

I am a homeschooling mother of four. I love music and teach piano lessons. I love to read and to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up, I had the wonderful opportunity of living overseas in Belgium, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (where I serverd a mission for my church) and traveling to 28 different countries. A highlight for me was meeting Mother Teresa in India and being inspired by her work among the poor. I love nature and seeing the beautiful world God has created. When I attended BYU, I majored in English and minored in Philosophy. While there, I met my husband who majored in philosophy and minored in English, so we have a lot in common. We both love to be together and to read and learn and we love our children. This naturally led us to decide to homeschool. I am grateful to be able to teach my children from an eternal perspective and by the Spirit. I believe that our family can be together forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS (Mormon) family. However, I needed to know for myself whether the teachings of my church are true. Our basic beliefs are that when Christ was on his earth, he established his church. Then, many of the truths were lost through a period of apostasy. In these days, his church was restored again through the prophet Joseph Smith. We believe both the Bible and Book of Mormon to be the word of God. There is a promise in the Book of Mormon that says that we can ask God to know if something is true and that, "by the power of the Holy Ghost you can know the truth of all things" (Moroni 10:5). I have prayed to know for myself if the teachings of my church are true and I felt an assurance through the Spirit that The Church of Jesus Christ is Christ's church on the earth in these days.

How I live my faith

Every day, I pray and study the scriptures in an effort to get closer to God and to understand his will for me. In my church, I have had many opportunities to help others including working with children, youth, adults, and currently with young children ages 3 and younger. Every month, I visit the homes of some other women who attend my church and share a message with them. In my homeschool community, I teach children about world history and other countries and I lead boys and girls clubs in which we learn good values by reading, discussing, and doing activities inspired by good literature. I believe in being kind and friendly to everyone and enjoy being with my friends in and out of the church.
