Hi I'm Cheryl

I'm a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and Family and Consumer Sciences high school teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was seven years old I have loved riding bike. I ride for pleasure and exercise, not to race. I love scrapbooking and spending time with my grandchildren. I followed in my mother's footsteps and became a teacher. I teach Family and Consumer Sciences at a high school. I went back to school after my children were old enough to get themselves home from school. I use to sew everything I wore, but I don't have time to do that anymore. Cooking and baking are my specialties. I make the world's best homemade 100% whole wheat bread. My dream is to open my own bakery someday. Music has been an important part of my life. I started singing in choirs when I was in the 5th grade. I sing alto and love the harmony it brings to the hyms, pop songs, and chorus numbers. I love new challenges and enjoy trying new things. I want to serve a mission for the church someday and bring people the truth, just as the missionaries did for my family when I was a young girl. I love life and appreciate everyday that is given to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was 6 years old when my parents joined the church and were disowned by their family. I appreciate the example my parents were and are to me and when they lost their family when joining the church it made a real impression on my mind. I relied on their testimony for many years until I went to girls camp one year and during a testimony meeting received my own comfirmation that Jesus Christ is our Savior and I knew the gospel was true. As I looked up into the star-filled sky that night I remember the love I felt in my heart from my Heavenly Father. I have never denied that testimony. The gospel make since to me. I am a very logical person and to me the gospel is logical. I love the protection it has given me through my life. The gospel has given me a peace that many people do not have because they do not know about the truth. I want to share it with them and help them find the same peace. Hopefully, I will be able to serve a mission with my husband someday and be able to serve my brothers and sisters.

How I live my faith

Most of my service in the church has been playing the piano in the children's primary organization. I love seeing the children sing the songs of the gospel. I love teaching Sunday School gospel doctrine class to adults. I learn so much about the gospel because I really have to study before I teach a lesson. I love singing in community choirs with people of other faiths. I have had many wonderful missionary opportunities participating in these community events. Participating with people who are not of my faith allows me the opportunity to set the best example I can.
