Hi I'm Katie

I was raised in the Catholic faith, I'm mom to two boys (one with special needs), and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to two beautiful boys, wife to the best husband in the world, a writer, and a special needs parenting enthusiast. Our youngest son is very medically complex, and his demanding care is at the center of my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ keeps me grounded as I face the daily trials that accompany keeping life as "normal" and happy as possible for my two boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In high school I was introduced to the church by a boy I was dating. After being in his home, I noticed an undeniable spirit of love and security, one which I desired to have in my own home. That summer, I read the Book of Mormon, cover to cover. At the end, the prophet Moroni makes a promise (see Moroni 10:4). I prayed to know if this book, and thereby this church, was true, and I recieved an answer that I could not deny even if I wanted to. I knew then, and know today, and will know forever, that this is Christ's true church, restored to the earth. I know that Joseph Smith, a young boy, entered a grove of trees with questions, and he had them answered. We, too, can pray as he did and recieve an answer to ANY questions we may have. This church has changed my life. I know that God has a plan for me and my family, and that it truly is a plan of happiness. I know that He watches over me and my children and that we are in His constant care. I know that Jesus Christ took upon Him every sin and every pain of the world. Our youngest son has had more than his fair share of trials in this life. He underwent 2 fetal surgeries before he was even born, and 8 so far in his 8 months of life, all of which have been spent in the NICU. Everyday it breaks my heart to see him struggle and suffer. I have only been able to endure these difficult months because of my sure knowledge of Christ's perfect love and understanding. He knows my son's pain, and He knows my pain, and I know that when I turn to Him for comfort, I will find it. As a 15 year old girl going to church for the first time, I couldn't have had any idea these trials would come into my life. But I'm so glad I have the gospel to help me navigate these tumultuous waters, and give me perspective and peace.

How I live my faith

Love for Jesus Christ and my fellow women and men is at the center of how I live my faith. When I read the scriptures and see how Christ perfectly loved those around Him, I am reminded that it is expected of me to try my best to be as loving, patient, forgiving and helpful as He was. I try my best to truly empathize with and serve those around me who are struggling. I especially try to exemplify His perfect love when I interact with my family. I try my hardest to bring my children up to know what is right and wrong, and to know that they are deeply loved by me and God.
