Hi I'm Maddy

I am a friend and a sister. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am 19 years old and a sophomore in college at Brigham Young University- Idaho, and I am about to head off to Brazil to serve as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am originally from Utah but I moved to Colorado at age 6 and I've been here ever since! I have lived in three states and have visited over 20. It's safe to say that Colorado is my favorite, with Alaska as a close second! I love to travel and to learn about different cultures and ethnicities. I enjoy photography, sports, the outdoors, having fun, and most of all... SMILING. Anytime I am able to help or volunteer it makes my day! I especially love working with children and being around their warm, cheerful, and lively personalities. As far as sports go, I absolutely adore volleyball, football, soccer, and anything that requires movement and competition. I can't imagine life without the mountains and hiking. It gives me the opportunity to escape for a little while and to take in the beauty all around me! (Autumn is the best time to visit in my opinion). I am so grateful for my life and I strive to live it to the fullest! One of my favorite quotes, is also a motto I live by- "you do not find the happy life, you make it" Thomas S. Monson.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and raised by very loving and obedient parents. Their service and mighty testimonies kept me strong and striving to do my best. By the age of eight I chose to officially become a member and be confirmed into this church I am a part of today. Looking back on that decision, I would never want to take back what I chose to be a part of. I love this church with all my heart and soul. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I can feel Their endless love surrounding me. I know that not a day goes by that I do not see the hand of God in my life. I know we are all children of God. We all have a divine purpose here on this earth and we each have a purpose here. I know that life throws us some pretty harsh curves at times, but I know they are for our good and will only strengthen us and make us better, if we allow it. We are given these challenges because the Lord loves us and He cares for us. He wants us to grow and to become like Him. With every challenge I have faced, both big and small, physical or emotional- I have found refuge in this gospel and in my Savior Jesus Christ. I have a firm knowledge that the Book of Mormon is true. Why? Because I have read it and prayed to Heavenly Father to know if the things contained within it are really true. I have received confirmation in my heart and mind that it testifies of truth. They are real. And they are good. Every time I go to read it, I smile. I feel the Savior's love surround me and the Holy Ghost testifies that it is true. With every challenge I have faced, My Savior and His teachings have been my rock. I feel and know of His infinite love for me and I am so blessed and so grateful for the life I have, for who I am, and for the knowledge I have. This is why I am a Mormon. Because I love my Savior and I know it's right. I feel endless joy and happiness in this church:)

How I live my faith

In my ward- a congregation of people determined by where each individual lives- I have had the opportunity to hold callings or positions. In these positions I have been able to serve and develop and strengthen talents and abilities. I have able to organize and plan church youth group and single adult activities, and in doing so I have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of incredible people and have been able to involve myself in volunteer work.
