Hi I'm Krista

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a stay-at-home Mom, a triathlete, and a Nurse Practitioner.

About Me

My family is my life. My husband and I met on a blind date and have been married for about 5 years. We have a 3-year-old daughter and a 1 year-old son. One of the hardest, yet most rewarding things I have done in my life was quit my job as a Nurse Practitioner last year after my son was born. All of a sudden I worried I wasn't contributing to society. I didn't want to lose my skills or my personality as a stay-at-home mom. Yet I know it's the Lord's will that mothers raise their children, and I have faith he is helping me in so many ways. Since then I have more time to focus on the kids and have enjoyed learning new homemaking skills such as sewing, crafts, cooking, canning, and preschool projects. I love learning and in the past enjoyed working as an RN and NP in a variety of acute care settings including ICU, ER, and Urgent Care. Currently I am working on education hours to help maintain my licenses. In my free time I enjoy sports and the outdoors. Hiking, biking, running, ultimate frisbee, softball, and camping are a few of my favorite things. I plan to compete in a nearby triathlon next month. Other activities I like include reading, blogging, photography, playing the piano and the viola. One of my greatest accomplishments was to serve a mission in Chile and teach others about the gospel of Jesus Christ. The hispanic culture is so warm and loving. I learned to love the people and still enjoy using my Spanish skills today.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family, but I felt the need to find out for myself whether or not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. I read The Book of Mormon, a testament of Christ that compliments The Bible, and there's a special promise by one of the prophets that invites all readers to ponder the words of the book and then ask God with an open heart if the book is true. The prophet (named Moroni) promises that God will reveal the truth to your soul if you ask him. I prayed about the book many times, and I felt such a peaceful feeling every time that I would read the Book of Mormon, that I knew it was from God. He promises he will speak peace to our souls and confirm truth to us, and that's what he has done for me. Right now in my life, the high standards that the gospel has given me help me to raise my family with an eternal perspective. There are many difficult issues and problems today. Principles such as modesty, chastity, honesty, faith, and charity are becoming foreign concepts. I know if I raise my children according to the gospel standards, they will be better prepared to face the challenges of today and live so they can be with our family and with God for eternity. l know that God has restored His church on the earth, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that anyone who wants to find out if the church is true can by simplying studying the principles of the church and asking God in prayer if it is true with an open heart. I invite you to find out for yourself!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by my actions. I try not to gossip or be negative. I try to do what Jesus would do. I try to be patient with my children. I work to teach them the sweet gospel truths that will help them return to God and help us live together as a family for eternity. I want them to always remember that they are precious children of God, and that He has a plan for them. My husband and I hold weekly family night activities to help them build happy gospel-oriented memories and learn correct principles. We go to church every Sunday and serve where we are asked. I try to share my beliefs with others so they too can enjoy the blessings I have received from living the Savior's gospel as we understand it with modern revelation just for us.
