Hi I'm Richard

I'm a PhD Chemical Engineer. I taught at Brigham Young University for 28 years. I love to play golf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a great grandfather and I love all my kids and grandkids. I like to play golf. My hobby is woodworking. I love to make intricate jewelry boxes from exotic woods. I am also involved in wood carving and furniture making. I am a retired professor of chemical engineering and have been an active consultant in the pipeline industry for many years. I love to read western and spy novels. My favorite authors are Louis L'Amour, Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church and was baptized at the age of 8. I'm actually a 5th generation Mormon. Nevertheless, I'm a convert to the church because at one point in my life I took the invitation of Moroni in the Book of Mormon seriously and personally asked God if it was all true. I have had many deeply spiritual and profound witnesses from the Holy Ghost that indeed it is true. I know that God lives. I know that He is my Father. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He is my savior and redeemer. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and that he saw and talked with the Father and the Son and that through him the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is indeed the word of God and is another withess of Christ. I know that Joseph Smith translated it by the gift and power of God. He did not write it. It is truly a prophetic and ancient scriptural document. I love the Lord and try very hard to be a faithful servant to Him.

How I live my faith

I'm a teacher. It has been my gift and calling all my life. I spend many hours studying the scriptures and teaching others about them, both informally and in formal class settings. I try to be a good neighbor and a friend to all I meet. I have served over my lifetime in a great variety of ways in the church. I have taught both youth and adults. I have been a Bishop. I have taught missionaries. I have been a scoutmaster and taught young boys how to be men. I have been actively engaged in attendance at all my meetings and have served as a missionary for the church. I am presently serving as the mission leader in my home ward.
