Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Stephen. I have been married to my sweetheart for nearly a year, now. I enjoy riding my bike, drawing and the art of animation. I'm an animation major in a prestigious school. Getting an education has been a hard journey because of the intense work involved with my major. Everything is project based, and it's hard to find time to finish all of my assignments. I have found that the Lord has helped me in my life to reach my academic goals

Why I am a Mormon

I am the second generation of the church in my family. My parents were baptized as youth, and the gospel has brought great joy into our lives. Even though I could see that there was a lot of good to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I felt like I believed because I trusted my parents and didn't really know for myself whether or not the church was true. I hit a period in my youth where I didn't want to go to church, mostly because the other youth there did not seem interested in being my friends. During this period of time, I began to wonder what life was for, but I knew that God existed and I wanted to know for sure whether or not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church. The prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, said that if I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know whether or not it was true, I would know of its truth by the power of the Holy Ghost - it would tell my heart and my mind that it was true. I was slow to take the challenge. A year passed, and I began to wonder about my testimony again and I started to study the scriptures (the Bible and the Book of Mormon), and pray to know. I felt good, but I didn't quite feel sure. I finally came to the conclusion that I should take the prophet's challenge and read the Book of Mormon. I decided to read it from beginning to finish. What happened was very powerful to me. The scriptures say that the Lord will open the eyes of understanding of they that do His will, and that was my experience. I opened the Book of Mormon to the first chapter and a man named Nephi says, "I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; . . . having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days. . ." It's so simple, but he came to life to me. I could see him, and I knew he was a real man writing to me in our day. The scriptures came to life for me. I know they are holy writings sent from God.

How I live my faith

I find faithful living important. My wife and I read in the scriptures and discuss gospel topics on a regular basis. We also enjoy sharing with each other about our time serving as full-time missionaries for the Lord. Strengthening home and family helps so that we can shine the gospel light to all and help bring others to Christ. Although we are busy, we work hard to fulfill our callings and assignments in the church. God blesses us daily, and we feel His love strongly as we share with others. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is here on the earth, and this is it. We want to share it with you because it's the only way to a fullness of joy after this life, because if we are faithful in obeying its principles and laws, we can live with God, be like Him, and have our families forever in a state of never-ending happiness. This is true.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Stephen
The Atonement of Jesus Christ can have personal meaning for each of us. It includes the suffering He made for our sins in the garden called Gethsemane (in Luke 22), His death on the cross, and also His resurrection (or raising up from the dead). Each part plays a significant role in our lives inasmuch as we apply it. His suffering both in the garden and on the cross allow us to repent, or remedy our mistakes. His resurrection allows for the resurrection of all mankind when He comes again in His majesty and glory. I have seen these valuable events take meaning in my life as I have needed the purification of the Savior's Atonement for mistakes (sins) i have made. He gave me the peace of forgiveness. He anxiously waits for us to COME TO HIM so that He can HEAL our soul. He loves us. He lived and died for us so that we could have the chance to return to live with God. I know this is true.
