Hi I'm Mackenzie Barnett

I am a daughter, sister, and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been called to serve a mission in Indiana Indianapolis and am excited to spend a year and a half serving the Lord. I am the second youngest in a family of six. I have three sisters and two brothers. I enjoy spending time with them as well as finding opportunity's to serve them. I went to Cosmetology school and have plans to further my education with BYU-pathways and to also become a certified Massage Therapist. I enjoy being outdoors and time spent in the mountains or the woods. I feel closest to the spirit when I am at the Lord's Temple and also out in nature. I love hiking and find joy in running. I've ran two half marathons and someday I plan to run a full marathon. I love doing new things and visiting new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the Mormon church at the age of 15. I grew up attending both a Baptist church and also the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I choose to be a member of this church because of the undeniable truth that I felt in my heart. The constant companionship of the Holy Ghost is given to you when you're baptized, but it is true that you being a child of God can feel and know of the influence of the Holy Ghost for yourself. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ died for us and that He lives today. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is true and is another testament of truth. I have a testimony of the Lord's temples here on earth when attending I feel closest to heaven. I know the spirit speaks to us and that we all have the ability to feel its influence. I love this gospel and am so grateful for everything that it has helped me through. I can not imagine my life without it now. It grounds me to the person I want to become and helps guide me when I think I have lost my way. I also have testimony of opposition, that trails strengthen and refine us and helps us to be better versions of ourselves. They make us more empathetic, so that we can better understand and help others. This life is meant for us to continually be learning and growing. There is always a solution to our dilemmas even if at times we get discouraged. This gospel has also brought me an eternal sense of happiness. I am the happiest when I am active in going to church and am mindful of the Lord's hand in my life.

How I live my faith

I currently have a calling in the church in the service committee. We do service projects within our community. Justserve.org is a great tool that we use to find more opportunities for service. Within our church we have callings in order for us to be more unified and to help uplift one another. How I live my faith is in the acts of everyday life. Daily prayer and scripture study are very important and I believe are essential to living the teachings that Christ taught.
